That "clearing dust" has a name and it's Rogue One. :)

Seriously, that's why just this month so many people are noticing greater and great weaknesses in the TFA narrative. It's not because it's a bad movie, it's because it has been so substantially outshined by RO.

I think rogue one is also letting people be more honest about force awakens lol.

People might have been quiet about the dislikes of this movie just because it was new and exciting to have something new but rogue one makes everyone wake up lol

I watched TFA again last night, and I still love it. That doesn't mean that I don't like RO more, it's just that I enjoy both movies for their strengths (which are different).

Yeah, I haven't watched TFA since RO but I imagine that it will always deliver on its own merits. It obviously never aspired to be a RO so it doesn't need to be judged as if it did.

TFA is more rewatchable, RO isn't as much, IMO.

RO is a better movie though.

Same for me. I still enjoy watching Force Awakens. There's some great scenes that I can watch over and over.
But having said that, my expectations of each successive Star Wars movie from here on out has changed since Rogue One. That's how good I think RO is.

I don't know about that. For me, Rogue One was the first movie in years I saw 3 times in the theater and I still want to watch more. Whereas I got bored of TFA after the 2nd time. Can't really sit through it now on blu ray.

I think RO has immense re-watchability, certainly the last 45 minutes.

I think TFA has more rewatchable moments. Whether or not they all add up to 45 minutes or more is unknown. LOL!

This will sound strange coming from me considering I saw TFA a whopping 10 times in the theater (more than any other movie) compared to 3 for RO but I also think that RO will be the most rewatchable by a wide margin in the years to come.

I cant watch force awakens without fast forward the middle of it.
I mostly enjoy the beginning and the end.

You could say the same about movies like The Two Towers.

It's got the best last act in the trilogy (hell my favorite flick of the trilogy), but it's definitely not the most rewatchable. FOTR is IMO.

I'll agree with that. I saw TFA more times in the theater than I have RO (so far), but I definitely like RO more and can see myself watching the hell out of it when it hits bluray. I almost feel like I should see RO more theatrically, as if the amount of times I see a movie in the theater is the true indication of how much I like it.

Same here. I do hope I get to see RO in IMAX one more time (have seen it 3 times in IMAX). I think I've maybe watched TFA on Blu-Ray about 2 or 3 times. I can definitely see myself watching RO a lot more.

One of the highlights of Rogue One for me is that it sets up and leads straight into A New Hope. Like a prologue to the main event. While The Force Awakens is like an after thought to the OT. I like TFA but for an entirely different reason that RO. The Vader scene alone was better than the Kylo Ren/Rey fight.

Since rogue one was so successful i wouldnt be surprised if they make a movie to connect jedi and force awakens :lol :lol

I still really enjoy TFA, and it’s mostly because of Rey and her as a character. I find myself always getting caught up in her journey and I enjoy all the character interactions. Sure it’s great to see Han again since he’s my favorite character from the OT. But I think I would have liked that “mentor” character and how he was with Rey just as much even if it was a new original mentor character. I guess what I’m saying is that all the nostalgia call-backs were all good and all, but I enjoy the movie regardless of all that. I just think it’s a fun ride with interesting people that I want to follow. I’m looking forward to Ep 8 to see how all these characters develop.
