I still really enjoy TFA, and it’s mostly because of Rey and her as a character. I find myself always getting caught up in her journey and I enjoy all the character interactions. Sure it’s great to see Han again since he’s my favorite character from the OT. But I think I would have liked that “mentor” character and how he was with Rey just as much even if it was a new original mentor character. I guess what I’m saying is that all the nostalgia call-backs were all good and all, but I enjoy the movie regardless of all that. I just think it’s a fun ride with interesting people that I want to follow. I’m looking forward to Ep 8 to see how all these characters develop.

Agreed, I know a lot of people are going into 8 just for Luke, but I'm genuinely interested in the new trio now, and whats going to happen to them. More so than seeing Luke on the big screen again.

With Fisher's death I predict that episode 8 will make a ton of money. And I hope that they do not kill off Luke but I do see him joining the force and in episode 9.

That Leia will return in Ep. 9.

:lol

Disney faked her death so we can all be blown away by her triumphant return.

Luke will be a flamer. Screencap this.

blue milk or moisture tho?

Rey will be Snoke's daughter.

>skinny white *****
>skinny pale dude
>big foreheads
>theory confirmed
>wor wins

Big reveal is that palpatine never died and he is snoke

Also rey is the daughter of leia and Chewbacca

That "clearing dust" has a name and it's Rogue One. :)

Seriously, that's why just this month so many people are noticing greater and great weaknesses in the TFA narrative. It's not because it's a bad movie, it's because it has been so substantially outshined by RO.

I think rogue one is also letting people be more honest about force awakens lol.

People might have been quiet about the dislikes of this movie just because it was new and exciting to have something new but rogue one makes everyone wake up lol
Huh. I have not followed these debates very closely, but am pretty surprised to see this perspective from you all. I don't have strong feelings one way or the other, but do feel that Force Awakens is the better film.

Rey is actually the daughter of Keira Knightly! Since Disney owns both they can cross over however they want! Notice that the end of RO took place in the Carribean!!
If you looked close enough you could see that Black Pearl and The Flying Dutchman!! Remember the Ship must always have a captain!! “Part of the ship part of the crew….."

So far where both TFA and RO have failed are with their Rancor monster scene.

But if I had to choose one then the dumb mind reading squid from RO is better than the dumb rathar.

But the next movie needs to get their main creature right.

RO had much better alien side characters though, far better than TFA especially the dude that worked for Saw.

I loved all the background aliens walking around in RO.

My favorite was that little rebel dude that looked like a gremlin with a gun. He looked great.

I thought about that after both TFA and RO. SHOULD there be a "Rancor" moment in each and every SW film? Should every movie feature a scene with characters stuck in a room with some beast? People riding on creatures? A space battle? Land battle? Wretched hive of scum and villainy moment? Lightsaber duel? Someone trusting in the Force? One side attacking the other side's "base?" There's actually kind of a pretty sizable list of bread and butter SW scenes. If every one is worked into every movie then it gets harder and harder to move the pieces around each time to avoid the dreaded "remake" label.

That's why I think new Star Wars movies are never going to please everyone (not that anything can of course, but particularly in this case) because Star Wars is pretty limited really in terms of what we've seen before and how it's defined by the viewer. It's an impossibly thin line between 'retread' and stuff that 'doesn't feel like Star Wars'.
