Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Remove from ROTS (in no particular order):

Oh no! there are buzz droids on the outside of my spacecraft! If only I had some kind of mystic telekinesis type power to push them off!
'Use the Ray Shields" then "Ray shields!'
Obi-wan defeated by a set of stairs
Lizard Riding
Greivous riding the buzzsaw thing from the old GI Joe
Killing Younglings
Face melt Emperor
Yoda giving up
'Noooooooo!'
Twirl part of Ai Vs. Obi lightsaber battle where they don't actually hit each other...also the rest of that battle
Oh no! I just gave birth to two children! I have nothing left to live for! *dies*

:exactly::lecture:exactly:

I always felt tha if Lando took one more step, he would have hit a wall! :lol

Credibility shot! The buzz boar was awesome in GI Joe and SW! :lol

ROTS I feel the digital. :lol
:lol :lol :lol

Amen.

Yeah, it has good bits - sure. I watched it to death when I first bought it, but now I'd struggle to get through it.

As a-dev said earlier, TPM still has better rewatch value - regardless of the reasons any one person has in particular.

Funnily enough, despite all the garbage in TPM.. it's STILL my fave of the PT films.

Still. :)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

TPM needs like 99% of Jar Jar cut, 100% of Boss Nass cut, 80% of Jake Lloyd's lines cut, and 20 minutes of the Pod Race cut.

Sad to say it really is the best movie of the prequels.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The thing is, when you way up the good vs the bad in TPM - it's kinda equal. :lol

Bad - Jake's character (Jake did ok for a little kid), Gungans, Nemoidian accents, Padme's quasi british / Chinese accent when in Queen mode, Kitster & Wald, Watto, Disney Racer intro sequence, 3PO as a friendly T-Endo, etc etc..

GOOD - Liam, Ewan, McDiarmid, Natalie (sometimes), ship / architecture designs, awesome real sets, Ray Park, Naboo, Coruscant & so on.

See? 50 / 50. :D

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If Jar Jar was subtitled instead of hearing him speak that terrible, supposedly funny, broken English, it would have helped tremendously.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

OK Jye has convinced me that it will not be possible to consider ROTS 'good' in any sense or way of viewing it.

I can actually watch TPM in isolation and find it a decent space adventure movie though. Its a waste of time as part of the broader Star Wars universe but OK on its own.

I'll be the first to admit that the problems started in Jedi, not with the PT.

I harbor no elitist view of the complete OT, the first 2 are masterpieces, simple as that.

The other 4 are not.

Watch Episode 1:The Phantom Edit. Among the changes Jar Jar is re-dubbed in an alien language and his dialogue is re-written and subtitled.

J.J. Abrams Says He's Targeting an 'Emotional and Authentic' Star Wars: Episode VII

Promoting the upcoming Bad Robot series "Almost Human," J.J. Abrams spoke today with EW about his much anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII, which is currently on track for an unspecified 2015 release.

“It’s been nice seeing how important ['Star Wars'] is and to be reminded how important it is to so many people," says Abrams. "We all know that [George Lucas'] dream has become almost a religion to some people. I remember reading a thing somewhere, someone wrote about just wanting [the new film] to feel real; to feel authentic. I remember I felt that way when I was 11 years old when I saw the first one. As much of a fairy tale as it was, it felt real. And to me, that is exactly right.”

Abrams also says that it's hard to name a specific tone for the new film because "it’s going to be an evolving thing."

"I would say we are working really hard to make a movie that feels as emotional and authentic and exciting as possible," he adds. "Whatever your favorite Star Wars movie is and how to compare it is really sort of subjective.”

Set to feature a script by Michael Arndt, Star Wars: Episode VII is rumored to focus on a new generation of heroes and could feature appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I guess that's JJ's way of saying that there will be no hating sand and dying from a broken heart in E7.

I hope tax laws aren't discussed either.

:lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Just imagine if they spoke cutesy English! :slap

Because phrases like "Yup nub!" and "Ichi-wawa!" aren't "cutesy?"

This ROTJ hate is pissing me off, and I got an itchy infraction finger. :cuss:

I don't think it's "hate" so much as it is a reality check. Fact is, in many aspects, ROTJ definitely has prequel elements.

I'm gonna go with "dumbass medical droid didn't know what it was talking about." Yeah, I like that a lot better. :D
