Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I read they're (Lawrence and JJ) "starting fresh" and not using any EU stuff so it don't really matter.

Link please. It's all been ambiguous and nothing stated one way or the other from what I've read through this thread.

They're disregarding the EU, but I would be very surprised if there's nothing from it in there. Some characters at the very least but probably completely different stories.

How can you disregard something but then take stuff from it? It should be one or the other.

And I have understood all along that they're not adapting any EU story directly. But will the galaxy and characters featured in it directly contradict any EU that has come before it? Has that been explicitly stated? No Google searches are turning anything up. Honestly that was one of my biggest turn offs to the PT is the direct contradictions to the Clone Wars as established by "Lucas' notes given to Zahn" in the Thrawn Trilogy. And the origin of Boba Fett and stormies being clones :monkey4

Speculation about "The Clone Wars" began after we heard Luke say "You fought in the Clone Wars?" The EU books were not the first to speculate the Stormtroopers were clones, every kid in 1977 thought they might be.

Thankfully, Stormtroopers aren't clones. Not yet anyway.

Poor Boba Fett got changed though. What a shame.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

When I was small, I believed that the Stormtroppers were robotic in nature. I don't want to say droids, but more like robots with even less free will than a droid. If you will...

This would have made ROTS so much better:

That was because in the 'Official Star Wars Movie Program' that came out in 1977 it said Stormies were clones :lecture :lol

It gave out loads of other info too in its Glossary, much of which is now been disregarded in the mind of George Lucas :cuckoo:

I wanted that booklet!!! I saw people who had them at the theater during the first weekend SW was in theaters. My parents wouldn't shell out.

They're super cheap on ebay but I imagine many of them are knockoff reprints.

Ive got an original, paid next to nothing for it around 1979 or 80 when i was on holiday....:yess:

Best part of it is the preview of the next 3, yes i said next 3 Star Wars movies. So even in 1977 George Lucas was changing his mind every 5 minutes :lol
