Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I think he will be taking it seriously. Mark has never been as cynical about Star Wars as Ford and he hasn't been in films much these days, certainly not in major roles.

I dunno.. I get the feeling that Hamill, Ford, and Fisher view this opportunity as more than just an easy payday. I think each of them view it as not only the opportunity to redeem the franchise but as the capstone to their careers.

Agreed. Reading interviews with him certainly indicates he's excited to be involved with this series and excited for new films. As for Ford and Fisher? Not sure. I really can't believe they agreed to be in it. Especially Ford after wanting to be killed off in RotJ. He's having fun with the interviews so hopefully some of that enthusiasm carries over. We shall see!

I'm PRETTY SURE with ford, it's that He's old, has kids ( possibly grandkids now? Donno), and likes Money.

And he has an opportunity to be an aging action Star, who gets to PLAY an Aging Action Hero.

What I worry about Ford is that his 'fed-up' act in the interviews is genuine, that he's gone like Alec Guinness did and really is just sick to death of it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Nah.. I wondered about it being an act too. But I think the sketch with Chewbacca where he sort of got "in character" showed a lot where his heart will be.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Also possible. But I think part of what Ford shows in his interview ( the ones on talkshows anyways) is his Glossophobia and/or [h=3]Agoraphobia. [/h]
Even so, Guinness was a professional about it. I see no reason to think Harrison would do any different.

Alec was a different beast entirely.

I hope so commander. For your sake.

Seriously, I did see that Jimmy Kimmel interview but I worry that he had so many interviews after that and it just wore him down....hopefully not.

What, no optimistic comment like "lightning in a bottle"?

I am sure they are under tremendous pressure from Disney to meet the deadline. Whether that pressure is helpful or not depends on the writers. Some work better that way, many don't.

I wouldnt be surprised if GK has had ideas rolling around his brain for 30 years though.

Very true, the point that this script is a rewrite and not written from scratch means it should'nt take that long. Also i'd like it if they left things open and adapted dialogue as they filmed, given how the main actors know their characters so much this would seem wise.

It was said that this WAS a completely new script. It's not a simple rewrite. They threw out the old for a brand new story. A later article stated that the major change was shifting the stars of the story. Arndt's was focused on the next generation with the Big Three as supporting cast and this newest one has the Big Three as the stars and the next generation as the supporting cast. How true those articles were? I don't know. But that's the news we've been given. Even if the problem/solution is the same, restructuring it to fit the characters does seem like a huge undertaking.

I wonder if We will see Winter Celchu at all... Even in reference.

Becuase if we do, the inevitable Game of thrones Gifs and mem jokes will be painful.
Funny, but painful. :lol
