Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I have zero self control, if I hang around a movie thread and there are spoilers, i'm going for it like a coyote on a rabbit.

Knowing too much absolutely ruins the first viewing.

So excited.

There's just no way for this to be as bad the prequels. Plus the music of JW helped the prequels a lot (imagine if he wasn't there OMG) So JW music in this should actually have more feel to it.
The worst this can do is be a cheesy nostalgia flick and i don't see them going that route. I really have thought all along JJ was one of the better guys to do this. And yes, the lens flares jokes were old yesterday!

I actually give kudos to GL to handing it off, (selling it whatever) it was the right move and i think he kinda knew it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! haha. ROTJ is a guilty pleasure but in my opinion the weakest of the 3 OT, mainly because it felt the need to be a Jim Henson muppet film, whether with Jabba's palace or the Ewoks (yes I know they were real people, but the look in costume, is the same).

Exactly- ROTJ was far far weaker than the masterpiece ESB was..ROTJ felt rushed and just losing alot of the SW magic. Too many muppets, awful Ford part/acting. The final with Luke/Darth/Emperor was the best part of the film plus yes, great ending space battle. ROTJ was still miles better than the....PT. Ughhh

Star Wars Spin-Off vs Avatar 2 in Dec 2016 :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

By the I guess since they're calling it a spin off the stories are going to take place in the ep7+ timeline.
I hope so. For the last 15 years Star Wars has been a bunch of stuff that ultimately dovetails into Episode 4. I'm not interested in any more history lessons.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I'm certain that the puppets will be exclusively in the back ground or quick shots. But it's going to fill out the world much better. There's nothing worse than poorly done cgi back ground crap like in the Ext Editions. Whatever character Serkis is playing will be cgi but for main characters they can afford to do it 100% and pull it off.

I like the little camel merchant.

And seriously, wtf is up with Abrams and lens flare? Has he ever addressed it?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I remember watching the making of ROTJ on TV as a kid, not long after the film came out - & was blown away by the artistry of Henson, Tippet, Oz etc.

I just want to feel that vibe again in this next installment. Is that too much to ask? :duff

You mean Lens flare and aging actor jokes are not enough. :lol

A lensflare walks into a bar. The Bar is being tended by an aging Mark Hamill.

The lensflare says to mark " You're old"

Still can't really believe we are getting the sequel to Return of the Jedi with the original cast over 30 years later...amazing.
