Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Speaking to The Orlando Sentinel, Hamill said “I have this feeling that no matter what we do there’s going to be a faction that really is disappointed. You just can’t live up to that.”

But Hamill said that he’s getting into the swing of being Luke Skywalker again. “I’ve altered my diet. I’ve started working out,” he explained. “But on the film itself: I toured departments, I’ve looked at wardrobe, and I saw the creature shop. I went around and met all the cast people, saw the technicians working on some new things.

And it sounds like the star has been enjoying reuniting with his old pals: “I hadn’t seen Tony Daniels or Carrie [Fisher] or Harrison [Ford] or Peter Mayhew in ages… it was wonderful to see them again, because I didn’t expect to. Again, this is all so unexpected. It’s like getting out that pair of pants you haven’t worn in five years and finding a 20-dollar bill in the pocket!”

But don’t expect Hamill to be discussing the film’s plot anytime soon… “This is a whole different world” he explained. “The first one no one cared. The second one there was a lot of interest, but it was before the internet… I tell people we’re not trying to annoy you or tease you or play some massive game. Basically, what the goal is [is] to keep the surprises for the movie instead of spoiling them on the internet.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is currently shooting, with the film set to hit screens December 2015.

New X-Wing looks amazing but I don't think a black paint job would suit it.

From Latino Review:
Since we won’t be getting any help from JJ Abrams and the official team until stuff like TMZ photo leaks forces them into it, I think it’s safe to say that I’m 75% sure I know how Star Wars: Episode VII ends. But I’d be a fool to tell anyone that or put it in a column, because that’s something you should get to choose about when it’s revealed to you. I have no doubt we’ll start talking about it sometime, but we have a long time until next December’s release. So what can we talk about in terms of what we know about Star Wars: Episode VII?Here are some fun bullet points that have solidified enough through different channels to be reportable:

  • There will be a female villain. Over 50% sure she's a Sith. I'll follow up on this in later weeks.

  • Despite having 30 Years after Jedi to set one up, there is NO New Republic at the start of Episode VII.

  • Boba-Fett-similar armor is around. Probably not for the man himself. Mandalorians? Clone drama? Still unclear on a plot/character connection.

  • John Boyega isn’t a Jedi or a Padawan at the beginning of the movie, he’s the one that has the story arc that brings him into Star Wars’ greater universe. It has echoes of Luke’s arc in A New Hope.

As always take this with the proper dosage of salt.

So lemme get this strait...

Your dad spoiled one of the most famous surprise plot twists in the history of cinema for about 200 people and still brags about it?

No offense, but your dad sounds like a real *********.

:exactly:

Anytime I think of seeing Mark Hamill in a freaking Jedi robe again I feel like a kid again. I was born in the holy year of 77 so I was a perfect age for Jedi. Looking back - I think seeing Jabba's palace and Jabba himself on screen was to this day one of the coolest cinematic experiences of my life.

It was just so full of wonder and awe.

No I think the scene with Luke, Vader and the Emperor is a piece of mastery but there will always be the "first viewing" of the opening of Jedi stored away in my geek heart.
