Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

It's a bit too early, if they do it might just be something like the Dark Knight Rises, where it's just a teaser of the title. We still don't know what the subtitle is, they could reveal it that way.

i read the article and its being worked on in November but they dont expect it to be done till Celebration Anaheim, that seems more believeable actually.

I believe there was a new regulation passed for film trailers, they can only be released like 4 months(?) before the film hits theaters, with one exception a year for every studio.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Well that's definitely not true

Actually it is.

Last year the North American Theater Owners (NATO) pushed for new industry rules regarding movie promotional materials that included a "four month rule". The rules also called for shorter trailers (2 minutes max) that teased the plot instead of giving away big pieces of plot. The rules are voluntary, and at this time no major theater chains are following them. The rules also have no influence over internet trailers or TV advertising. The MPAA also doesn't like the NATO rules and the biggest theater chains are owned in whole or in part by hollywood media companies.

Bottom line - the rules ZaCHw117 mentioned do exist but have no teeth and at this time are not being adhered to in any meaningful way.

A "rule" or "regulation" implies authority, if no one follows it and they don't enforce it then it's not a rule but a suggestion.

No matter what it won't be as bad as the prequels, cause that's just not possible.

(In fact i believe we're all going to be pleasantly surprised.)
