The black guy is the new Luke and the girl the new Leia...and the football, the new R2D2. Once the original cast goes away in the sequels, I probably won't give a crap about the new characters.

Yeah just like Episodes 1-3 cast except for Ewan and hot Portman. Is it a crime that they couldn't do Dark Empire?:lecture

Daisy Ridley is far hotter than Portman IMHO. I would have her higher than both Fisher and Portman.

The OT cast can't go on forever, nor should we want them to, this is pushing it as it is.

As long as it's good, I'm ok with more SW with new characters.

I understand that, but what makes the original films better than the prequels, is the cast. I didn't realized that until recently, and when I saw the new trailer, it became evident that the thing that makes this film feel more like a SW movie, is the original characters. The story might be good and episodes 8 and 9 might also have a good story, but without new characters that can carry the franchise, it's pointless. It's hard to replace Han Solo and Darth Vader, which are the two best things about the original films, for me at least.

I just saw the trailer. I didn't know the old cast was going to be in this movie, nor did I know about the practical effects! I wasn't planning to go to the theater this year, but I'm definitely going to try to see this opening week! It looks great! From the trailer, there's no doubt in my mind that it will be better than Return of the Jedi. I loved the music, Luke, and the Emperor, but wasn't the biggest fan anything else in that movie. I'm really hoping the cast gets a satisfying conclusion! Mark Hamill sounded pretty fantastic!

The original films presented a pretty black and white scenario of Good versus Evil and now they're introducing a bit of grey which kinda makes you look back on the originals with a different eye. Arguably even the prequels did this though with individualised Clone troopers, not that I ever really gave a **** about any of them.
Huh, I didn't remember the clones having much in the way of personality. In fact, the way they all respond like automatons when instructed to kill the Jedis made them seem pretty mindless and interchangeable to me.

I can't agree with this. The prequels had some very good actors in the mix, but the story and dialogue were atrocious. There's only so far good acting is going to get you. Though obviously, better casting of little Annie wouldn't have hurt.

Guys.

I dont know if there has been any info.... but is Kylo Ren suppose to be human or can he be an alien ??

This shape of his mask and all reminds me so much on Plo Koon...

Good question. I assumed because Adam Driver is one of the main stars he'd be human, but he could be in makeup.

If anything the PT told us that the OT was “lighting in a bottle”. Im not sure if I have ever seen the PT used in a pop culture reference. Do a search for Stromtrooper funny. Now do one for Clonetrooper funny. Not much there.

I know that I will enjoy these new movies at 41 but nothing can compare to my impact the OT had in my childhood.

Great attitude to have. We just aren't kids anymore no matter how much we want to be. *looks over at detolf*

I'm not just talking about the cast because of their good acting. I don't expect good acting from a SW film. Even the originals had cheesy bad dialogue and acting (Who's scruffy looking?). Those films had a better story, but like most good films, they had a cool villain (Vader) and a cool hero/protagonist (Solo..technically Luke is the hero, but everyone wants to be Solo) . The prequels had forgettable villains, and lets be honest, there's nothing cool about a 40 year virgin, Obi Wan, imo. I'm sure some people like him though, but to me he was just vanilla.

I actually like Luke more than Han Solo, for the same reason Captain America is by far my favorite Avenger. I guess it's unpopular, but I liked that about Obi-wan.

I really liked the idea behind the pre-quels, and love the cast of Ewan Mcgregor as Obi-wan. Personally, I think people were hard on Hayden Christensen because he would have done so much better with a good script and director (No offense to George, as I am extremely grateful for what he's done and still believe he has an incredible imagination)
