Have you every hated a movie so much you wish it were a real person so you could just confront it head on and try to bludgeon it to death?

In all my years I don't think I've loathed every particle of a film the way I do with this one. I feel like it's personal now. It's gained sentience, it knows I hate it and want to eradicate it, and now it's trying to kill me first.

It some people longer than others, but most people have moved on now in the year and a half or so since this horror was unleashed. But I can't seem to let it go...or rather, it won't let ME go.

It creeps in, uninvited, in the night....whispers in my ear "I actually exist. I am the official canon according to Lucasfilm. What are you gonna do fanboy? What the **** are you gonna do???"

One way or the other I'm taking this movie to hell with me.....unless.....I'm already there??

Someday, a TV in your home will turn itself on in the middle of the night and startle you awake. Just when you've cleared the haze from your eyes and gathered enough sense of what's happening, you'll listen closely and come to understand that TLJ is what's playing.

In a rage, you'll get up and tear the sheets off of your bed. You'll stumble through the room upending your furniture and swiping fixtures and books onto the floor. But then you'll see it . . . your Kenner Stormtrooper action figure (first wave). You'll take hold of it as a calmness and serenity is restored to your being.

You'll tuck the trooper figure away in your pocket and slowly walk through your home in a tranquil daze - in a trance of sorts. Then you'll find yourself in front of the blaring television and notice the scene playing is Rose and Finn turning around on a cliff's edge as DJ's ship ascends in the backdrop.

As the spark of blinding rage ignites within you once again, you collapse. The Kenner figure rolls out of your hand and tumbles away as you utter your dying words that describe the last thing your eyes ever saw in this mortal realm: " . . . Rose butt . . ."

Thus will end the tragedy of Citizen Otomofan.

But not on this day; so . . . May the 4th be with you! :lol

Johnsonitis. It's tragic and I feel for Otomofan. I was able to break free of this horrible condition and now stay faaaaar away from TLJ :lol I sincerely hope you can also buddy, I suggest a course of the original trilogy.

I’m in the lucky situation that it turns out I’m immune to that condition :)

The sequel trilogy is only good at the theater but once you get home and think about it is when it really starts to fall completely apart. The only thing that'll make Episode IX any good is if they cram it full of stuff about Vader. Like flashback scenes of him, his castle on Mustafar, etc.

....eeeeeh please no.
Just rewatched TFA tonight. It’s ok, but mostly SW cliches - TLJ is a far better movie. Hope JJ won’t pull back into the ‘safe zone’.

This was the last known pic of RJ and the franchise...

How and where it lands from there is anyone's guess, 'safe zone' or otherwise.

I loved TFA until someone pointed out the many parallels with ANH. Dunno how I missed 'em the first time but I haven't thought of it the same way since.

Why is the first order so similar to The Empire? It's to sell you the same thing over and over again, that's why. Idiots can hate on the prequels all they want but at least there are tons of new ships and new character and trooper designs not to mention new world designs as well. And they're all great.

People who hate the prequels are “idiots?”

Cause they wanted more than “tons of new ships” “trooper designs” ?

You don’t need a movie to show new designs and troopers.....a catalogue can do that.

Sorry, this “*****” will trade those things for story, acting , dialogue and production.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

I actually agree with you.
However, I do believe the prequels have far better, more coherent and thought-out stories than the sequels.
Acting and dialogue have always been a dicey proposition in the SW franchise, but even though I find some fine pieces of acting in all SW movies, I do agree that the sequels have the better overall acting of the entire franchise.
As for production, of course technology has evolved vastly, and each trilogy builds on the one before. I know how maligned the use of CGI in the prequels is, but that's where technology was at the moment. It's as if we were to berate the 1933 Kong for its shoddy stop motion when comparing to Harryhausen's later work...
And for the record, it has been shown that the prequels have a ton of practical effects and sets, and the sequels also have a ton of CGI...

The PT also took special effects and film technology forward, just like the OT. Episode I featured the first photorealistic CGI major character and Episode II was the first big-budget film to be shot digitally.

True, but total abandonment of practical effects was a shame. Relying almost solely on cgi was mistake. Even today practical effects can be the better choice. The sequels have learned from that and have a beautiful balance between cgi and practical effects.

Well, as I said, there wasn’t a total abandonment of physical sets and effects, but yeah, CGI works best enhancing practical effects and sets, which the sequels (with improved technology and larger budgets) did better.
