I’ve studied that cave sequence over and over and it still puzzles me and at the same time makes me concern about what Kylo said her parents are nothing because when she said “ show me my parents “ the distance showed two silhouettes approaching her and then as they got closer they formed one image that looked like Kylo but when it stopped , it was her .
So was the darkside trying to trick Rey into thinking Rey had no parents? Or they really didn’t matter like Kylo said. And when Kylo made Rey admit herself that her parents were nothing reminds me when Vader said to Luke saying he was luke’s father and Luke said No, that’s not true..that’s impossible...Vader said search your feelings you know it be true . And obvious we know now that Vader was his father and deep down Luke knew, I guess it really doesn’t matter who Rey’s parents were because the force is not passed on .
Because you look at Anakin’s supposedly slave mom
The logic is getting too twisted
I don’t know if it’s getting twisted (though I think that long term continuitywas not a priority of Johnson) or if it it is yet another case of “a certain point of view.”
Kylo’s info is based on his reading Rey’s mind. Exactly what Rey recalls is not entirely clear. We know from the TFA vision that she remembers (or observed) that she was abandoned to slavery/servitude on Jakku. We know, or can assume, that the people on that ship she saw abandoning her were degenerates. Do we know they were her parents? According to Kylo, based on Rey’s 4 year old memories.
I’m not advocating for anything - just saying there is ample wiggle room in the narrative.
