This explains a great... many... things.

Oh no, they got to Kuat too!? We lost him boys. Only a matter of time before we succumb the Disney ST mind control as well. Thank goodness some of us are stronger than oth- . . .

What's this feeling I feel? The . . . Last . . . Jedi is the . . . best of all the Star Wars films? Must see it . . . Three more times . . . To confirm?

NO, **** no. What am I saying. It's trash. Attack of the Clones isn't better than it, the Last Jedi just happens to be more crappy.

I’m assimilated due to proximity

Those on the front lines usually are the first to go.

But you know what if i’m going to be assimilated I couldn’t pick a better person to share new SW with than Khev his enthusiasm at least makes it fun and worthwhile to experience this stuff with.

You’re not even programmed for assimilation you would just self terminate. :lol

Seems like the defenders can’t live with themselves knowing there are folks who hate this movie??

No. At least for me the "degree of woundedness" that has resulted in a completely savage and apparently bottomless eruption of rage:lsvader from some quarters to me was more baffling than anything. Tho some of the outbursts are funny:lol. It's not a question of living with myself - I thought Ragnarok was hilarious but that film has haters too.

Because IMO none of the Star Wars movies are what I think of as "perfect" films anyway. Which to me is pretty rare, whether a large blockbuster or small independent film.

Like Luke's fate which I thought was beautiful (and I guess the last audience I saw this with thought so too since they applauded). IMO an elegant handling where it's not the same as Obi-Wan and doesn't visually pit an older guy against a younger, taller guy and end up with a kind of Yoda bouncing ball visual. (Telling myself that Yoda is a powerful force-wielder doesn't help; still looks like a bouncing ball to me...).

Re some of the TLJ hate-comments, sure, I see the logic lapses and IMO fails (like Phasma). Stupid stuff like "luv" out of nowhere. But there's enough there [that I like] that I'll buy the BR when it comes out. So I can get called an a-hole (by some) not because I don't see some issues, but because they don't bother me enough to not throw [more] money at Disney.

It's been said people like me are "part of the problem".

Dunno about that:dunno. The implication I guess is that if audiences demanded more, "flawless" films would be churned out, in line with known canon that paid service to whatever fan group is the loudest. But far as I know, in the end, directors more or less implement their own vision; things get cut or un-filmed in the interests of time; a movie is interpreted to screen based on budgets and a huge amount of other factors. So I don't even go to that many films in theater re a lot of them not being worth it IMO. But for me TLJ was definitely worth seeing on a big screen$$$ and more than once.

*Shrug* it's not like Disney is gonna re-boot the film. It's not like Kylo's cross-guard sword was changed when there were complaints about that. Directors don't get changed because some people decide they dislike them on Twitter.

But I suspect Abrams will wind things up with a feel-good crowd pleaser like TFA, and that'll get a lot of flack too for being too safe.

Who's writing Episode IX? Abrams is a decent enough director but he does best with a writer who has the wherewithal to add more "oomph" to the narrative, especially in the third act. Rey's duel with Kylo at the end of TFA was great and had a lot of emotional heft but I'd like to see someone like Chris Weitz (Rogue One) brought back to help him stick the landing with the larger space and land battles.

What is Disney to do if the Chinese are not into SW?

Force them to like it what?

Is there a food you would never eat?

If my business is making that food that you don’t like should I force you to eat it or concentrate more on the customers who do like it.

Ok, my comment was from a business perspective, not as much a personal one. Your correlation makes no sense. Food compared to movies?? One has much more cultural significance than the other. Hopefully you now which one I'm referring to.

My point is movies have become a global business, not a domestic one. And the point with China, is each movie is received favorably less and less. They've grown to dislike SW. If you go as far back as EPI, while not as much as now, each subsequent movie performed better, not worse..

EPI $4.1m
EPII $5.48m
EPIII $9.1m
TFA $124.1m
RO $69.4m
TLJ $4.4m (to date)

A near 50% drop off between TFA & RO is bad enough, but TLJ?? A 94% drop is unheard off. So I guess based on this, according to you Disney should agree and just give up, and well, "Move Along.." They don't need China, they are above every other movie studio where China has actually saved movie franchises.. All the Disney execs agree, we don't need China's (the country with the world's largest population, nearly $1.4 b) money!! As long as we have the new generation of Disney created fan boys here in the US, we're golden.. Job done.

SO, say what you want, but sorry to say, yeah it does matter to Disney....

Always two there are no more no less.

lulz

Not sure where you're getting 4.4 million. TLJ has made over 28 million in China.

Sorry, my bad. That was Chile which is listed right above China.. OK, so more than a 50% drop off from RO & 76% drop off from TFA...

Clearly at $28mil The Last Jedi has dominated China... Crisis averted. Disney can now rejoice..
