Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Anyone who doesn't like a poorly made movie is a basement dwelling cheeto eater. Got it.

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (TBA)

Hmm, with RO I felt like they catered to my every existing cinematic preference. TLJ was *not* the movie I would have made but it won me over on all levels. Just too many feels. Who knows between RO and TLJ especially with just one viewing of the latter. I'll just say that they're both top shelf and both easily surpassed my personal litmus test of "being better than ROTJ." :)

:lol

This movie took the Saga sideways on several levels and I can understood people not embracing the choices. That's okay though, I appreciated the risks and loved the end result.

I'm a little surprised you liked it so much but I'm glad for you. I really wanted to stay on board the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy train but I think I've had my fill of the green milk for the moment. Being able to share that cool experience with your own padawans is awesome and that would definitely enhance the movie for anyone. When my youngling gets old enough I will revisit TLJ as he watches it for the first time and hopefully we can have fun with it too.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

These are sequels to the OT, where Luke was the hero. TFA is a sequel to ROTJ.

The problem is that this isn't like say Blade Runner and its sequel. SW is a mythic hero's journey type story, so trying to flip the hero to mentor is problematic (despite ageism that says Luke is older therefore must be relegated to mentor status.)

These films aren’t about his journey and the film alluded to it and his “status” several times making it clear his role. I’m not challenging, I’m simply regurgitating what was on the screen. Based on that I took his sacrifice as “giving himself” to the force not just disappearing.

Yes.

You should check out the "Will the PT be more loved or hated after TFA release" thread that just got resurrected.

Let me guess, lots of "AOTC >>>>>>>>>> TLJ" type posts? lol

There's no such thing as too much green milk, drink up boy!

Absolutely, and if not TLJ you guys still have lots of other great films to share together.

Apparently you and everyone, lol. And ironically I was ready to jump off the Sequel Trilogy train after RO but TLJ pulled me back in!
