Hey Spazz, I just want to say ‘thanks’. I consider myself generally “woke”, and came to this thread for some laughs, but I appreciate you taking your time to summarize things as you have.

You're welcome. I do this for selfish reasons but if people find it useful, that makes me feel good. Glad I could help.

Chewiest deserves his own ship in charge...

I agree I thought Poe would slide into the passenger seat and be the new "Solo" while Chewy was the Captain of the Falcon. Maybe that's a little cliché but at least you could have some great bather of them two arguing at first.

I just had to endure entire PAGES of Spazz posts......

I was too busy thinking and being enjoyed to feel the pain, that is exactly the point I was trying to make with Star Wars. It takes you somewhere where you feel no pain, don't worry about your mortgage, and North Korea and WW3 etc. Chemo is sort of like chronic pain you always feel horrible so you don't know the difference between feeling good or bad so you eventually get so used to feeling bad that bad seems better than worse.

Did this movie seriously ruin my life of course not, obviously there are more important things to worry about, but I felt a certain attachment to Luke. maybe it was the 5 year old me playing with my Star Wars figures in front of my parents TV watching He-man, and GiJoe. Maybe my resentment of the movie is purely emotional in my own head because I am constantly chasing the nostalgia that will never be replicated. Maybe my disease has made me so bitter that nothing would make me happy?

No man, it's not just you. Lucasfilm created an intellectual property that was marketed to boys, about what used to be a male experience regarding coming of age. Including women in that story is fine, but when you use iconography that men grew up with to tell them how toxic they are, you're undermining emotional attachments to cultural cues. It's a form of iconoclasm meant to offend. Atheists often do this to religious people. It's a form of emotional attack, that I'm personally not fond of unless being bullied.

We grew up with these stories, and now it's being wielded to tell us how "toxic" we are, as people. That hurts, when it means something to you. When you care about Star Wars in detail, you're delving into a nuanced piece of art that involved specialists in numerous fields who broke convention: Ralph McQuarrie's art, John Williams scoring, George Lucas' writing influenced by theories from Joseph Campbell... There is an adult level of mastery that went into this "children's" film. It's legitimate art, and it's been subverted against you.

How do you process that? For me... I've decided it's time to make my own art. I dunno... I love the original trilogy, and I'm going to take what I loved from that and, in a very DIY punk rock way, create something that expresses reality, instead of the nonsense being thrown at us. I'm doing it for me. I shouldn't expect other people to "represent me". That's what the SJW's have done. It still sucks, but I shouldn't feel cut off from the culture because Disney is buying things I love. I should contribute, if it bothers me that much.

I guess what I'm saying, is learn to write, sculpt or draw. Do something that engages your mind. You'll feel better, because it's the axis between the fantasy in star wars that helps us escape, and that part of your brain helping you to be present, via problem solving. When I sculpt, I feel the same way that I do when I write.

Is that supposed to upset me? All I'm hearing is, "Validation is important to me. If I tell him I don't like him or what he writes, that's gotta hurt!" It doesn't. You're projecting, and in doing so you wear your weakness on your sleeve.

You're in over your head. Bully someone dumber than you.

What happened to all the tit milk jokes and Mary Poppins space wizard cracks?

Clown ruined the milk jokes for the meme gods and single handily redeemed hermit Luke.

Right now he’s in hiding because he ruined Wor-Gar’s favorite TLJ joke.

Superwoman Leia however remains a big WTF moment but those jokes are nowhere as funny as titty loving Luke.

If you could be so kind chap try to keep up please.

Hey speaking of Chap whatever happened to forum member Chap2099 was it.

So many people gone just disappeared like me one day.

Hahahah...

Nah I am just amazed at the diatribe your posting on a forum for dolls....

Most of your posting are nothing over anyone’s head...it’s all been said before you thought of it.

If you’re going to make SW the battle ground for an ideological battle then you better be sure to do it right or don’t do it all.

Humans will be humans so the ideology battle will take center stage and become more important than a fun SW movie meant for families to enjoy so now SW is as much political as the freaking presidential elections so much so that RT fan score actually matches the election results in this country!

The conversation with Spazz was caught up too much in defining the process and labeling it. When you define it, it becomes an ideology. My aim, when I was doing his for a purpose, was anti-ideology. I couldn't define myself politically because there are elements from many political sides that are relevant at some point. That's why I dislike the concept of 'party' politics, of freely elected representatives being coerced to vote the way their party expects.

There is often something in a work of fiction that is born of agenda, ideology or belief. And you can argue that it's even there when it wasn't excplicity intended, because the creator is bringing their life experiences to the work.

It would be there in Lucas' films, but you may not see it because it wasn't rammed down your throat as strongly as Kennedy's feminist ideology.

It's why I argue that TLJ is clumsy. The result of being pulled in too many directions due to a necessity to include an ideological perspective. It's at odds with the simple, yet powerful, storytelling Lucas began with ANH. The first film could be characterized by the birth of the hero, and his quest to make the right decisions at every turn.

Now with TLJ the distinctly male hero has been torn down, and replaced by a female leadership. Kennedy has created a new battleground in the story that has more to do with the real world than the story itself. Here we also see the disconnect between the path of the story in TFA and the change of direction in TLJ.

Believe me I very much respect your opinion and well formed words very eloquently written I might add.

But see what Kennedy has done.

See what I have to read Kathleen!

You’ve gone and woken up the scholar giants in their great halls of giant pillars.

Can I please just have some pew pew pew splosions in my SW movie!

Man until I met you and Spazz I thought kara was already hard to decipher lol.

Forget deciphering Adolfo that cat operates at a 5th level dimension.

General Leia under Kennedy would hit the cat with one shot.

I keep forgetting that i’m on the world wide web.

The person I could be having a discussion with could actually be a sharia law or wahhabism following muslim scholar or Nazi scholar or name any other extreme group scholar.

Just because one is an extremist does not mean they can’t be a well educated scholar who can easily out word me at the drop of a hat.

Remember my anger and frustration at Kathleen Kennedy is not her message those girl tshirt powers don’t bother me one bit I never feel like someone is forcing something down my throat because my self worth as a man and father and my actions in life are too strong to be offended by that nonsense my problem with Kennedy is that she turned SW into a huge magnet and made it the battle ground for all of this silly bickering and didn’t do it well I might add.

If you’re going to make SW the battle ground for an ideological battle then you better be sure to do it right or don’t do it all.

So thank you Kathleen Kennedy for bringing this stuff in a sloppy manner to SW so instead of kids enjoying SW they have to listen to their parents hating on other parents now great job.

In case you’re wondering let me tell you about myself i’ve never done that before here even at over 61k posts so consider yourself very fortunate adolfo lol.

I am not a liberal or conservative nor do I subscribe to a particular religion even though I do have faith in something bigger than me.

I was not born in the United States proudly got my citizenship in 1997 fluent in multiple languages studied multiple cultures in my travels and then finally decided to pull from all the good qualities from most ideologies that spoke to me and discarded the bad in them.

So I am both a conservative and a liberal (yes you read that right your eyes are not playing tricks on you it’s actually freaking possible can you believe it) that studies multiple religions and it pains me to see two very powerfull ideologies tearing each other to shreds so much so that the ONLY solution they leave for themselves and their kids for crying out loud is a physical civil war were death will be the only solution to settle their differences.

Shame really.

I did not serve in the US military but I proudly served society as a medic for 25 years before retiring worked ground zero when it happened and just thru sheer luck even served on the Vice Presidential motorcade detail the highlight of my career obviously.

One of my brothers however was a USAF fighter pilot for a long time and thankfully made it out ok and went on to have a very successfull career outside of the military BUT because of the military.

That’s one of his fighter helmets I wore in the movie I made called Cannibal Campout lulz.

Had I not had a son I would’ve just done a Luke and retired on the side of a mountain in the Andes because the reality is there is no changing these differences certainly not by me when much more powerful people in the world are keeping those differences alive and well for very specific reasons so yeah I was going to turn into coward Luke and run away like a ***** lol.

But instead I got married and had a son so that changes everything so now i’m going to remain in the fight for him.

Then again he just might get to an age and say mom dad about that mountain hut you own can we go.

I have electricity there so my bluray player will work just fine but no UPS delivery i’ll have to drive 2 hours for that lol

There you happy cocoon man! :lol

So true my wife is such a ***** lol

Really enjoyed the background on yourself here.....

I know anonymity is a prized possession on the web, but this was a good read...

After dealing with 3 identity theft issues I am much more reluctant to share and personal info these days....

But your post is inspiring.
