Summing up my feelings on TLJ...

Me on the way to the theatre:

Me at the first jokes looking to see if we're all watching the same movie:

Me at the titty milk scene:

Me at the end:

Me going bat**** ready to hunt down every last person involved mercilessly:

And now.. The only logical next step:

So in truth.. It does help me understand the overall saga more...

I've updated my score to an 11/10

LOVE THIS!!!

TLJ now wants me to wish that Ben at the end of Ep IV tells luke to crash into the death star

Saw it again yesterday, I think I liked it better and paying more attention helps clarify some of the stuff going on. But the Rose/Finn story is still really bad, it's like they didn't really have anything for Finn to do.

Firefly > Leia fly

And another Big middle finger to luke from Return of the Jedi

Kyo did , what Luke wasn't able to do

You paid twice to see rose/finn do nothing?

I can't fathom giving this movie more money.
I'll even download it in the highest quality possible when it pops up online around March or April, just to really give them the finger.

One thing's for sure: right now JJ is ****ing scratching his head and wondering why the **** he let Rian Johnson write VIII :lol

He pitched his story to Disney the day TLJ came out. Dudes on top his ****.

Sure, but the backlash had yet to happen :lol
Unless he anticipated it in his first draft, wouldn't be surprising considering Rian ruined a lot of the stuff JJ had worked on for TFA.

Frankly, I'm scratching my head wondering how you folks aren't lumping JJ in with Rian when you're ripping TLJ to shreds. JJ co-wrote the screenplay to TFA, which only had Luke in the final scene, gave him no lines & stuck him on Ahch-To in the first place. He's also the Executive Producer of TLJ, so it would seem he not only had much to do with Luke's story arc but was probably OK with Rian's script as well.

Thinking about that Dark Side Sink hole analogy I made again..

I think I know what Johnson was going for...

In an effort to defy expectations he decided to use Empire as the film to go against..

Empire had drama, action, suspense, surprises that effected the characters and changed the way we thought about the history, events that the characters would take with them into the next film... You know, just a really good script..

Johnson was like.. I am going the opposite way of every great thing Empire did.. Just to be different.

Yoda Trains Luke to become a Jedi for half the film... Ha! Rey will be on an island with luke for 40 min and Luke wont teach Rey a damn thing!

Luke goes into tree of the Dark side and finds out how far he is from completing his training.... Ha! Rey wont get anyting out of dark side sink hole except a chorus line routine

Luke Finds out Vader is his father changing how we view all prior events - Ha! Rey finds out her parent were drunks.

Han will be frozen in carbonite leaving us to worry about his future, His friends and loved ones are effected by the event.- Ha! Nothing of significance will happen to Poe or Finn and all will be fine.

Hoth Snow battle will be exciting and action packed as they keep the empire away to give the Rebels time to retreat - Ha! Salt battle will have ships that cant fire lasers and be quickly outmatched and have to retreat getting nothing done (again).

Chasing the Falcon will be a fast passed event of hide and seek through the galaxy were two of our main characters fall in love - Ha! Starship chase will be slow and boring with nothing happening with any of our main characters.

Leia will kiss Han and sparks will fly! - Ha! Rose will kiss Finn and everyone will be like Huh?? Wha??

Han and Leia will meet charismatic swindler who surprises us with his double cross and his heroism - Ha! TLJ will have charismatic swindler there only to move the story along because... Honestly we got so confused writing this stuff we did not know why we even needed someone to show the FO that escape pods were getting off the main ship.

Empire had cool planets like Hoth, Dagobah, and a City in the clouds.. Ha! We will have an Island, a casino, and our own Hoth but this time it will be salt. Mind BLOWN!!!

Empire will end with more questions about the future of our hero's... Ha! TLJ will end with out hero's just as they were before.

Empire was so fresh and Exciting! Ha! TLJ will be fresh and ... Well We hope nobody notices and just enjoys the Fresh.

Producers dont do **** but put up money and reap rewards from profits, zack snyder was a producer of wonder woman, and spielberg transformers. If they had any say on those matters im sure ww would have been worse and transformers much better.

Almost forgot to mention that chris nolan produced both man of steel and bvs

I was totally fine with that choice. It's a bit disappointing at first but then you go "that's cool, we'll get everything we could hope for from Luke in the next movie".
Then enters that moron Rian Johnson.

Executive producer was just an honorary thing, even if he probably had opinions and suggestions, Rian had total control and JJ was completely out (at that point he was far from becoming the director for IX).
There is just no way what Rian did was what JJ had planned in his mind after all the setup he worked on in TFA.

Sounds accurate. A perfect plan. Rian Johnson is a misunderstood genius.

Well Box office mojo has the Friday estimates in..

Dont know if its been posted but it has made $24,680,000 Which is a -76% drop off..

Now I do think they count the Thursday sales with the opening Friday.. So those numbers are misleading.

That's one way to look at it, but in my view JJ painted Rian into a corner regarding Luke's reason for going into seclusion and not returning.

He painted him into a corner because Rian Johnson has a terrible imagination. He had plenty of options, if only he had worked with people who understood Star Wars and could provide him with better paths for the character's story.
We are talking about the guy whose only way to keep the spotlight on Rey was to kill off Luke Skywalker.

Some of the pre-TLJ theories out there are a hundred times better than the actual movie, that's proof enough that he just wasn't the right guy for the job.
Honestly TFA was far from perfect, but as far as setups go, any good writer could use it to make a great sequel.
