Snoke wants Rey. Why?

Snoke wants the pair -- Kylo AND Rey. Why?

Snoke wants the Force siblings who are together stronger than each alone.

Therefore: Rey must have Skywalker blood. If she's not Luke's offspring, then she must be the secret sister of Leia and Han. Perhaps Luke and Leia decided that, like themselves, these powerful twins must be separated. Perhaps even Han was unaware, as he usually is. The connection between he and Rey is all the more meaningful because of their natural father/daughter relationship.

I’m friends with a woman who can kick all of our ***** with one hand tied behind her back no matter how big, muscular or fat you are.

I’ll never forget a big guy telling her she was repulsive to him she should just try being a woman instead of playing make believe warrior.

She was charged with an assault after she broke his nose and jaw lol

She loves SW :lol

A woman can be tough and feminine at the same time. Like Randa Rousey. But men and woman are still different. As tough as Randa is she wouldn't last long against her counterpart, Stipe Miocic, for obvious reasons.

Ooooorrrrr....now hear me out here.....

The filmmakers gave this less thought than you just did in typing all that up. It's a non-issue to them.

"What? Snoke? The bad guy? I don't know...he wants Rey cause she's the good guy. Whatever. It doesn't matter. We have to go over approvals for Porg plushes before lunch so let's make it quick. Nerds are gonna go see this **** no matter what so it doesn't matter. Episode 9 title? I don't know, 'Balance of the Force.' OK, that's lunch."

there are outliers in every sample set, and your female friend should be free to be as muscular as she wants to be, but citing the exception basically proves the rule.

BTW breaking a guys jaw for telling her she's unattractive to him is unacceptable. I'm actually surprised you're laughing about a brutal assault. Imagine reversing the scenario where a man strikes a woman and breaks her jaw because she called him "repulsive". would you "LOL" at that? I hope your friend got jail time and sued.

Could be. I offer the above as an option to save the storyline. It's the obvious U-turn that JJ could take.

Snoke didn't "want" Rey. He just wanted her knowledge of Luke's location and then as soon as he got it he ordered her execution.

Oh, is that what it was? He kept batting her on the head with her lightsaber instead of just killing her so I must have misunderstood :dunno I guess that was another 'Rian change'. I'm not up on my Rian changes from just the one viewing.

Curious no one pursued the plans still if Snoke wanted the location. Or like that roomful of Rebels that all saw the map. Lot of options for Snoke besides difficult Rey. He's not very smart.

Well obviously Snoke would have no way of knowing which Resistance members may or may not have ever looked at the map but he did know that Rey knew the location and she allowed herself to be captured which made it pretty easy for him. But yeah Snoke just wanted Luke and his disciples killed so once he lifted her up in the air and read her mind he sent her over to Kylo to be beheaded. I'm not sure how that's a "Rian" change though since in TFA Snoke wanted Luke and when Kylo couldn't pull the map out of Rey's head Snoke ordered her to be brought to him. Which of course happened in TLJ.

Well when you start writing a sequel without having watched the movie it's following, you'll probably run into plenty of continuity errors.

But Disney ain't care. They'll get the money.

And no, I don't think this will affect the bottom line at all for this movie or the next one or the trilogy after that, or the trilogy after that. People will just go see Star Wars forever, long after we're all dead.

I know I'm just one person, but it's over for me. Luke's dead. I have no reason to bother with any of the nonsense that comes next. Maybe there are a handful of fat 40-somethings scattered around the globe that feel the same way I do and won't bother with any more of these lousy movies. But it won't matter, cause we'll be replaced by younger viewers or first time viewers in countries were going to movies is a new experience.

I'm sure I'll still read about rumors and theories and gossip, but it's just out of morbid curiosity and habit. My lifelong passion for SW was all but killed when they murdered Han Solo, but this abortion of a film was the death rattle.

For those talking about how JJ can fix who is Rey and their relationship, I feel that ship has sailed by what Johnson has done. Whatever damage control or retcon they try will be forced and make even less sense at this point. The inconsistencies are already a huge part of the problem in TLJ, do we really want them carrying over into ep9? Unless Kennedy & Johnson come out and publicly apologize for what they did/allowed to happen, it's just another FU to the fans they want to go away.

They can't be twins as there is about a 10 year gap in there age. Kylo is 29/30, Rey is 19/20. The time frames already dictate that and are stated in what Disney calls "Canon". Plus the ages of the actors are clearly nowhere near the same. We know Johnson already decided he didn't care about continuity, but this would make things even worse. Second, Rey has already interacted with Han, Chewie, Leia and Luke. Someone would've shown some kind of emotional attachment somewhere over the last 2 movies. The closest we have as to someone knowing is Kylo being interested in "a girl, what girl" or something like that line he had in TFA, like he new something. And we all now know that apparently, according to Johnson, didn't mean anything. Something unrelated to the Skywalkers is the only way to have the connection make sense, but good luck on that one. Just like we were never meant to learn why the lightsaber called to Rey. According to this new lore that any one can be a jedi, is Rey really the 1st force sensitive person in the galaxy to ever set foot in Maz's castle?? Cause apparently the lightsaber was just looking for a new home, not longing to be with a descendant....

:dunno

There are no inconsistencies. Kylo is Han and Leia's son. Rey is the daughter of some random junk traders. The end. If she has different parents in Episode IX then that will be the result of an Abrams retcon and no fault of TFA/TLJ.

Oh yeah....about that lightsaber: any particular reason a saber that should have burned up in the core of the gas planet Bespin ended up in a trunk in the basement of a space cantina 35 years later?

Ask JJ Abrams. Luke probably chucked it over his shoulder because he realized it was just a replica.

But how do you explain Luke's lightsaber that 'talked' to her with visions... including Ben Kenobi's voice calling out "Rey"...?
