Oh so now you're inventing fleets of unmanned drones that don't exist in the films that the Rebels are supposed to be use from here on out. Awesome, lol. Please, keep going. :)

Yes and you've invented TLJ as a great film

How is it weak? Oh cause you DO NOT LIKE IT! Just how many ships do you think they have?

The fleet was never huge and its obvious to anyone who cares to look that the Fleet in TFA was not very big....

AND most of it was destroyed in TFA.....and you think its a good idea to take whats left of that fleet and use it to nuke some Star Destroyers?

The Alliance fleet reorganized into the New Republic after the end of Galactic Civil War and saw massive downscale (90%) under the Military Disarmament Act. The tusk of system defense and security was handed over to individual planets and sector.

During the events of the TFA, the bulk of the fleet was stationed over the NR Capital and was destroyed with it. We see part of the fleet going ka-boom in this scene:

AND we are told in TLJ...that the remaining ships that could have helped did not answer the call......

Its a perfectly logical answer .....you just cannot accept the fact it does not sit well with you. I can bring up, as stated many many times before completely illogical stupid things in OT and PT...that everyone here would defend to the death because they accept those films as the perfect embodiment of youth.

There is ALWAYS someone who creates a new battle tactic and surprises the enemy.....to continue with my example previously....prior to WWII no one had thought to use airplanes on suicide attacks on the scale the Japanese did....

IF you need another example from history...9/11...prior to THAT no one had used commercial airliners as missiles to attack civilian targets.

AND we clearly see the improvements to the original At-AT in TFA in response to a clever young pilot names Luke Skywalker figured out he could use some flimsy wire to trip up a gigantic mechanical tank (why had that not been used before????) ...oh and then they magically exploded with a single hit...

My guess is the resistance...what is left of it....will not be able to pull that trick again.

This thread needs more SNIKT.

I miss the pre-TLJ Snikt's wild theories.

And the utterly devastated post-TLJ Snikt's anger.

Uh, I'm pretty sure I said that TLJ showed the first scenario on screen where it made the most sense for the characters on screen to even think of using such a tactic. But please continue telling us how the movies should feature nothing but little drones crashing into each other, lol.

Hey remember when Max took out Tina Turner's entire convoy by crashing into the lead car at the end of Thunderdome? How stupid that Fury Road didn't give us nothing but two hours of people crashing unmanned cars into one another. :duh

come on dude, you're totally back tracking and pivoting to tangential arguments. You said she was the first to weaponize hyperspace and basically opened pandora's box to the most powerful weapon in SW canon.

and you just agreed that it's completely stupid. You have to either completely ignore it going forward, OR you have to explain why every space battles doesn't start and end with unmanned hyperspace drones blasting into star destroyers. It's a lazy and huge plot hole.

Holy crap i’m crying it’s reached Mad Max levels of revisionism now.

Next movies up at bat James Bond and Die Hard :lol

So I guess Jabba taking great pleasure in torturing droids in the same manner as humans would be tortured (burning feet, arms pulled apart etc) went over peoples heads.

Well then all they have to do is write that into a future script. If you show that light speed can decimate an entire fleet, why the **** WOULDN’T they use drones to do that in the future?!? It’ll save a whole lotta lives.

And they would be dumb NOT to use it so it was a stupid idea to bring it in to Star Wars. It was visually stunning and very cool, don’t get me wrong. But if you show it’s possible, then everyone should be doing it.

So now all future space battles should be over after the start. That’s why it was a dumb moment in the overall story.

Whew This guy gets its! LOL!! but I love the passion of the defenders, they are blind to sh***y story telling :(

Uh, that logic could be used to ask "why didn't the Rebels have legions of droid fighters supporting their X-Wing craft in the OT? I mean the technology was available right???" The answer is that they didn't have the means or the resources, end of story. You only get to reference the tools that they had at their disposal on screen. No making up all these other things that they supposedly should have built for themselves. Might as well criticize the Alliance for not building their own Star Destroyers, Death Star, etc.

All they had were a couple squads of fighters and a few capital ships. Period. And it would have been stupid for them to obliterate their own limited fleet.

The reason the Trade Federation used only droids is because they were really cheap to mass produce.
Having a few dozen specially built droid ships for hyperspace suicide purposes would be nothing compared to how many proper ships and lives it would save.

I know at that point we are starting to get into "why didn't they do that in the OT?" but hey, that's not on Lucas, that's on Johnson. He is the one that put an incredibly efficient hyperspace crash in his movie.

Resistance_group_shot.jpg

Yeah I know I would want to waste all those ships on suicide missions....

Man am I glad I am not in the service of some of these armchair generals.....

Against this

I just can't believe that the Mad Max movies featured people driving the cars. I mean that's just not safe. :lecture

Why did the Company send Colonial Marines to LV-426 instead of a squad of Bishops? Thanks Rian, you just ruined sci-fi. :(

Hillary Holdo of the Disney shoehorn clan is the first suicide by hyperspace....ooooh....may Ackbar's memory be eternal at every red lobster dinner on the first of the month by the entitled to the force crowd

I wonder if Holdo survived that "crash"? I mean, it was like a bullet train thru butter.... maybe she reached her destination OK.

Can't wait to find out in Episode 9.

Maybe she'll have bright pink hair and an even prettier halo. Don't let us down JJ.

Top Gun would’ve been better with just drones.

Steve McQueen’s famous Bullitt car chase being redone with self driving Toyota Camry’s.
