That's fine with me. RPG >>>>> MMO

then they should have made another KOTOR. trying to make a story driven MMO will fail. it wont be an MMO at all, thats one of the rudimentary bases for an MMO. you're supposed to be able to have an experience that encompasses the entire world. if you're running around killing every NPC then how are others going to be able to play along with you. unless all the party play is done in instances I dont see how its going to work :duh

You can have the main fights in instances and have the rest in a open world. I can see that happening. But I still don't want it to be a MMO.

thats the exact thing I'm trying to point out as being wrong. thats the way it should be and the open world should effect EVERYBODY not just the one player. if you kill an NPC and hes dead in your game how can he be alive in another persons game ?

Bioware has already stated that this is KOTOR 4 5 and 6 wrapped up in one.

It's going to rock, and yes we need a freaks guild.

I'm a little bit worried with how this "story driven MMO" is going to pan out. How are they planning on making the game on an even keel? I mean say you want some help on a quest and you ask your buddy but he's like... sorry dude I killed that guy 3 days ago. An MMO is supposed to be exactly that Massively Multiplayer.... they should have gone in one direction, MMO or RPG. I think they is going to be a let down for the people who are looking for a straight up MMO. Don't get me wrong I'm siked to play this game but I'm holding my breath.

That's pretty standard MMO fair. Basicly, ALL NPC's have a respawn. TO a degree World of Warcraft works as a Story Driven MMO, but the players have little effect on the story, as it's more about you participating in a linear story, than one with branches. there are a FEW branches, but not many.

The ONLY real way I see the Deciions and actions a player taking having an effect on the game world in the way that Boiware has mentioned, Is having the ENTIRE game instanced for each player. you could invite people to come hang out with you in YOUR world ( think Diablo 2, Or guildwars) but the only MMO part of thase games was the chatroom in Diabnlo, or the City area in guildwars.

I'm with you, and a little wary of how it's going to work. Not interested in another guild wars, OR Diablo, ESP if it's pay to play. if that's how it pans out, I will not be playing.

Time will tell.

just wanted to point this out, something i had overlooked previously. Bioware has moved this game far enough ahead in the timline to allow for more KOTOR single player games.

The Old Republic MMO is set 200 Years AFTER KOTOR 2

more i see of the e3 stuff, and biowares record of making epic rpgs, coupled they had a team of writers creating content and lore for this game for 3 years +, i got high hopes for this to be a mmo that gets back to story and lore driving content rather than loot and junk.

asherion's call had lore and a story, they unfolded 6 month arcs that moved the story along added content that was part of that story, and dev run epic events that players could get their names broadcast server wide or unique skin items for being the first to compete an epic quest story arc. best mmo content wise i ever played because you felt you were part of the world, you felt you could make a difference in the world if you worked hard enough explored hard enough. gratned some arc were much more epic and interesting than others, but i not had more fun in a mmo since.

now days mmos seem too concerned with cramming stuff in, if bioware is getting back to the story and lore mattering sign me up.

Not to be tedious, but I thought it was 300.

I belive it's 300 also. Also The Sacking of Coruscant takes place 30 years befor the game if I remember correctly. Any one reading the online TOR comic on the official website?

I hope it will be a normal subscritption, i hate Microtransaction blah blah crap.

I guess it depends on if you are a hardcore gamer or a casual one. I was casual when i was playing WoW and FFXI so i wasn't getting much for my 12 to 15 a month. For awhile i was paying but not playing so for me micro would have been the way to go since I wasn't on much.
The other way they could go is have a free area and a premium area. Then it would please everyone.
