The movie really seems to have taken off with the kids though.

It always bugs me when I see kids being forced to lie and be fake just for a chance to be part of the corporate machine.

Adults having to do it is one thing but kids, yuck.

I just saw it, I liked it.

But way too many artificial and telegraphed jump "scares" and DUDE YOU HEAR THAT CREEPY MUSIC IM A SCARY MOVIE YOU HEAR? OOOOOOH

Just keep it low key and unsettling, you're not scaring anyone, geez.

I liked the loser's club, Pennywise was ok, but they tried too hard to make him scawy, which is the case with many choices made in this movie.

No, it's not better than the first one. Period.

Would see it again tho.

I used to say i wish pennywise had more screen time,

But i realized, he has enough time in the movie
But i wish he wasnt having terror seizures every time he shows up.
I wish he had more dialogue and more quiet moments.

My favorite part is when he is mocking the kid with the broken part and when he says "it was real enough for georgie"
But of course he had to convulse all over again...

Same with the georgie basement scene, i wish he talked to the brother more.

Yeah I agree, it was a right amount of screen time, but yeah, more taunts and less epilepsy would've been better.

It's kinda dumb if you think about it, he's trying to lure kids while looking that creepy and spazzing out?

The effects were great though, I loved the final fight. I look forward to see his quasi real form in chapter 2.

The director did that same garbage with Mama...

I dont know if it was the studio or the director or maybe even the script called for him to jump scare spaz out

Maybe they thought thats what younger audiences wanted

I didn't know who was the director until like 2 days ago, the name sounded familiar and yeah when I found out it was the Mama guy I knew exactly what kind of scares to expect, I even think he did it better in Mama, and that movie called for more of those scares since it was an errant and protective ghost, this clown is a timeless superdimensional Lovecraftian creature, you'd think he'd be a little smarter at least in that regard.

Sophia Lillis would be a great Carrie.

I walk down very long dark hallways at night and I always wonder which would scare me the most, a silent silhouette in my presence or an entity spazing out and screaming rushing at me.

Silent silhouette for sure for me, if it's illogical enough.

A quick spazz would trigger a fight or flight response in me and pump me with adrenaline, that's IRL tho, in movies, crap like paranormal activity movies have desensitized everyone.

Sure jumpscares work but they can be done better, they don't need telegraphing music and a big sound cues when they happen, think Halloween. Every single one of the scares here made me roll my eyes and I didn't hear even a gasp in a packed theater, in fact, I heard chuckles in some of them.
