Clowns don't scare me at all. Only big robots without faces and grey aliens at night scare me. Pennywise is cool like Joker, but not scary.
Pennywise is scary at concept level, just not so much in his weakened state where it can be defeated by a bunch of kids just by not believing.

So much for the scary primeval creature when you see the fat kid biting its arm.

Silent silhouette for sure for me, if it's illogical enough.

A quick spazz would trigger a fight or flight response in me and pump me with adrenaline, that's IRL tho, in movies, crap like paranormal activity movies have desensitized everyone.

Sure jumpscares work but they can be done better, they don't need telegraphing music and a big sound cues when they happen, think Halloween. Every single one of the scares here made me roll my eyes and I didn't hear even a gasp in a packed theater, in fact, I heard chuckles in some of them.

Plus the jump scares were so loud..... like, jesus christ it wasnt even scary but just loud and hurt my ears

Plus on repeat viewings it is gonna be super annoying

Oh yeah so it was not just my theater, often times some of the screenings here are terribly equalized, so I thought it was that, but I see it isn't.

One of the best parts in the book are the sections from Pennywises perspective. Especially the part where he comes to grip with the fact that he isn't immortal and can be killed. It's really good. I they explore that a bit.

I really liked those parts, I want to reread the book soon, one of my few King favorites, but it's been ages since I read it, but the audiobook is 44 hours long :lol it'll take a while.

I wonder if the turtle will show up in the next one, I doubt it though.

Yeah it's so fuggin long :lol

I don't think we'll see the turtle...I think that little lego turtle is all we'll get, and it's broken now :lol Which brings up whether or not the Ritual of Chud will play a part. I doubt it really. It's too "out there"

I believe tripping out will play an aspect though. I think the director wants one of the kids to end up a drug addict who has a drug-fueled transcendent experience where he learns how to kill Pennywise...or something :lol

Mickey Rourke is scarier :lol

I wish Penny would kill more people in the film. The whole time he's just playing with his food instead of killing the kids.

:lol the kids are really what make this movie rewatchable.

Yeah, they could've killed a few more kids, I like the idea behind killing Georgie in a gory way, I don't think it was executed all that great with the bombastic sound cues and stuff, but I like the idea behind it.

They could've done more of that and it would've made Pennywise scarier, and it would also have made it more difficult for the losers club to not be afraid.

All in all I think stranger things is a better King-esque thing.

And we actually got lucky with what we got.

The original script had less clown and some of the clown attacks happened off screen. It was even less scary and dealt more with the adults and the bullies. Like the bully ******* or the bullies banging the sheep.
As well as beverly getting abused. Original script was pretty bad

What, in the original script? They made him Starro? :lol really?

I don't mind though, his "true" form can be whatever, if we actually see it then it's not its true form.

Yeah, that's what F u k unaga pictured.

And yeah, our minds can't comprehend his true form...so really any director can make it whatever...I have a feeling, for this iteration it will be some giant tooth filled maw with tentacles...ya know, the usual :lol

Well, that's all in the book, hell there's even a crazy scene that would make the feminists go ballistic.

I know it is, but they replaced the clown attacks with that crap. I know it would be faithful to the book but Im saying we are lucky that this director erased all the *** stuff and added the clown having seizures :rotfl:rotfl

The book goes into immense detail about a lot of things. Holy crap this man can write and go into detail about anything. The audio book is good. Only chapters 5-12 are available online. Still pisses me off that it's 34 for the whole thing. Might as well get the book instead lol.

I was on the hype and read that he eats a baby in the original script during the olden times when he first arrives. Crazy

Do it. It's a pretty insane read. You'll also feel a great sense of accomplishment after reading page six billion and thirty :lol

The book is really that long huh? Amazing how a book about a killer clown can be that long and fleshed out.
