Just returned from my 2nd viewing and unfortunately the movie did not hold up especially the kid interactions, felt more forced this time with really boring dialogue and shallow tension.

The movie fell apart for me.

U could say the same about goonies too. I never understood the hype that movie gets.

Thats exactly why i wish pennywise had both more screentime and had much more dialogue,

Because on repeat viewings more pennywise talking to the kids would make the movie so much better

I found the weakness this time to be more with the kids then PW amount of screen time.

That kid with the thick glasses was just not funny none of his lines were clever to me.

Why was Mike in this movie again he added nothing to it actually same for most of the kids they just did nothing.

Eddie’s mother was a waste of screen time.

There were still some great PW scares though although they eventually lost their punch.

That scary house wasn’t particularly frightening.

I'm glad I didn't bother springing for full IMAX prices, despite the hype. I'll catch this at the dollar theater in a couple months.

If there was more focus on pennywise instead of the kids then those weaknesses wouldnt be as big.

The miniseries didnt have great kids but tim curry's big screentime and dialogue made it memorable and good for rewatch

A few great PW scenes but otherwise a pretty shallow experience with scares that quickly get deflated.

The georgie scene is probably the best part but really anything PW is in is pretty good.

The kid stuff meh.

You know all the usual story weaknesses that RO doesn’t suffer from.

That kid with the thick glasses was just not funny none of his lines were clever to me. - not even c a c a senior?! :lol. Kidding. but that is the point of his character, he's that friend that always makes you cringe :lol I wish they would have incorporated the reason for "beep beep Ritchie" instead of just dropping it like it's an easter egg. "Beep beep" is something the kids would say to Ritchie whenever he was being annoying and they wanted him to shut up :lol

Why was Mike in this movie again he added nothing to it actually same for most of the kids they just did nothing. - The point of all the kids is to help each other overcome their individual fears and to defeat Pennywise. Without each other they would not have found the strength to do so. I'll say, they could have strengthened this aspect in the film. They go over it ad nauseam in the book

Eddie’s mother was a waste of screen time. - She was important for Eddies arc. She went hand in hand with Eddies fear and acted as an obstacle for him to overcome in order to find his courage. If you remove her, you'd have to restructure Eddie's fear a bit. But having all the adults in the story be total a-holes is another aspect that's intended. It's meant to create a sense of isolation for the kids. They only have each other.

There were still some great PW scares though although they eventually lost their punch. - No comment, cause I never got scared in this movie :lol

That scary house wasn’t particularly frightening. - I agree. It's kind of like the haunted mansion ride at Disneyland, not scary, but fun and neat to look at

My POV in bold...while waiting for the tree to grow...
