I found the weakness this time to be more with the kids then PW amount of screen time.
That kid with the thick glasses was just not funny none of his lines were clever to me. -
not even c a c a senior?! . Kidding. but that is the point of his character, he's that friend that always makes you cringe I wish they would have incorporated the reason for "beep beep Ritchie" instead of just dropping it like it's an easter egg. "Beep beep" is something the kids would say to Ritchie whenever he was being annoying and they wanted him to shut up
Why was Mike in this movie again he added nothing to it actually same for most of the kids they just did nothing. -
The point of all the kids is to help each other overcome their individual fears and to defeat Pennywise. Without each other they would not have found the strength to do so. I'll say, they could have strengthened this aspect in the film. They go over it ad nauseam in the book
Eddie’s mother was a waste of screen time. -
She was important for Eddies arc. She went hand in hand with Eddies fear and acted as an obstacle for him to overcome in order to find his courage. If you remove her, you'd have to restructure Eddie's fear a bit. But having all the adults in the story be total a-holes is another aspect that's intended. It's meant to create a sense of isolation for the kids. They only have each other.
There were still some great PW scares though although they eventually lost their punch. -
No comment, cause I never got scared in this movie
That scary house wasn’t particularly frightening. -
I agree. It's kind of like the haunted mansion ride at Disneyland, not scary, but fun and neat to look at
