With half terrible opinions, you may be right. ;)

What do you like about it? Is it the tv budget? The terrible tv editing? the bad cinematography? The bad music? The bad acting? I used to like it, and I still can watch it, but you sound like you've been brainwashed by Pennywise. Do I need to take you on a bike ride?

I don't know if it's the lack decent mainstream horror that's got people so marveled by a decent, not bad, far from great, horror movie.

The new film is highly overrated.

Real news.

I give you the bad acting here and there, the TV budget makes for some surreal effects that compliment the hyper-dimensional clown motif perfectly, the cinematography and music can actually pretty good if you have a good eye, even more considering the TV budget, editing was fine, serviceable.

Leaps and bounds better than *Generic tense music crescendo* LOOK THERE'S A JUMPSCARE COMING GUYS! GET READY, THIS SURE IS SCARY HUH?

You can't reach the pedals.

Neither film is scary. :dunno

That's low....like your taste in movies.

No, but the 90's one at least establishes, manages and explores the psychology of the characters much better, still a far cry from the book though.

Granted, the new one does a better job with the sexual themes than the old one. Too taboo for TV I guess.

That's low....like your taste in movies.
Still an inch higher than yours tho.

I liked Pennywise but honestly he was made very weak, a wimp with no real special powers to use against the kids.

I'm not sure if it's what Jye meant but I suppose showing more of his successful kills rather than talking about them or implying them could have made hime more intimidating. For me the Georgie attack set the tone and stuck with me but I'm also walking in with the book in my head so that may inform me too much.

There is a reason for his weakness to the kids...but it's another "read the book" answer :lol

So i'll just go with, a bunch of 12 year olds with bats and metal poles stabbing your face is kind of scary...IT is just a century old sleepy clown monster... how could he stand a chance?!

Also worth mentioning, Pennywise is an animal essentially. Kind of like a spider. He's good in short bursts but tires quickly. They kind of hint at this when he attacks Bill in the "you'll float too" scene. He uses Georgie as a lure to draw in Bill, attacks but misses...then slinks away cause he blew his wad.

It's not nostalgia for the miniseries, as a kid I didn't like Stephen King, and still today, I'm not a fan, only like a handful of his stories, and the miniseries was just meh for me, I think I only started appreciating it past my 20's.

The miniseries is just objectively better.

It is not the lack of good mainsttream horror.

It is the innocence, comradery and spirit of friendship between the kids,
The great connection between them. It reminds people of their own childhoods and their friends.
People really appreciate this reminder of their young life. That sense of wonder and adventure in these kids.

The fact that it is horror it eliminates the terrible cheesiness and corny humor from other kid group movies like disney movies or something.

U can prove this by how big stranger things got. Same concept. An ok show that was elevated by the great kid actors and the horror concept.

You like Grace.

Very true. Freddy Kruger is another bum villain that isn't scary at all and in the end he's running around and getting beat up by a girl like a punk...

True. A lot of the superhero movies today too. They would blow people's minds back in the 80's and 90's, when you consider Batman 89 was the best thing that era had to offer. Also, 99% of the 80's horror movies are garbage, but they're entertaining, and not scary at all. They're just fun vehicles for the villains to kill kids and say one liners.

Grace isnt smelly u jerk!!!!

*NOSTALGIA* cough *NOSTALGIA*

:lol it's cool crows, I'm genuinely glad you like it, I rarely see you like stuff this much, if you're not memeing that is.

I do agree about the kids though, easily the best part in the movie for me and like I've said in the past, I would re-watch just for them, incidentally, looking forward to ST.

I see you appreciate Grace too, good lad.

:lol:lol:lol

These kids and the town came off very forced didn’t feel like a real place.

The investigation by Ben was as bad as Lois and Kent in BvS

I'm pretty sure it is. Most of the horror we've gotten the past ten years has been considerably below average, so when a plain average horror comes out, it seems great.

See for me the movie fell apart on the kids side at my 2nd viewing, that’s not good they are the glue that holds it all together.

Mike, waste.

Ben’s investigation, waste.

Eddie’s parental induced hypochondria, waste.

There's that too.

I will admit though, I do give It points for at least trying with the development of the kids/protagonists. Far too often the "protagonists" of modern horror feel like afterthought fodder added to the story for the sole purpose of being there for the villain/killer to toy with, and it shows. With It, they at least tried. Whether they succeeded or not, different story.
