Yeah, to be honest, I wouldn't have minded if it happened to the inside elbow. I was planning to leave it posed like that for good. Now I'm forced to have him with arms straight down. Don't think there's a point getting a new body either if I can't pose it. Might as well just live with keeping this body as is, with arms down.
Such a shame, as it's an awesome figure. Hopefully storm come up with a better rubber next time.

Hey Eklips,

May I ask which version did you buy? Im just trying to figure out where or how these issues came about. I know the body for Lawrence was bought from parts of a package.

Im not sure which edition it is, but I think it's the standard edition. I didn't get the leather boots, sparring gear or wooden floor with it. I'll have check later to be sure which edition it is.
I got from a Hong Kong eBay seller named goodshipped, if that's of any help. Here is the link -
STORM TOYS MIKE TYSON YOUNGEST HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION BOXING EVERLAST + BONUS BELT | eBay

If you didn't get those extras then it will be the normal retail version that you bought. The red text on the front cover is another indication that it's the retail edition.

I hope that Storm are not strict with warranty and all. It's just that I noticed that you and Lawrence bought your figures from a third party seller and not through official channels. I keep my fingers cross for everyone.

I feel like the more peeps start to receive theirs (& pose them, that's an important part), the more problems we might see from this body sadly. I managed to get the SC body in a really nice peekaboo stance, but the elbows are kinda at their bend limit, so I'm not too excited about possible issues later on. But for now, I'm enjoying the pose. & that's probably going to be the type of pose I'm going to display that body in.

iPhone pic quality. Sorry.

The left arm (with the holes in it) can bend the most.

The right arm, not as much range, but enough.

Part of my Mike Tyson display plan.

I think I'm going to have 4 or 5 Mike Tyson figures displayed, depending on whether I manage to get the Olympic version or not.

Nice pics Lawrence.

About the longevity of these bodies, I hear you.

I just dont know about that peekaboo stance. It looks like its really pushing it to or over the limits of the arm/elbows. Im already feeling it stretching just looking at it. Yikes.

Serious oversight really, why make a body for a boxer that can't be kept in boxing poses

I can deal with some rubber bodies having to be in a museum pose or arms straight but for a figure of a boxer seems like a waste

Haha. Yeah I know. It's already ruined, so why not see what happens. I guess I've already prepared for the bad case scenario of having the arms rip at the outer elbows, so I'm not going to be raging mad over it :lol Good case scenario is that it survives that pose for years, & I'm happy whenever I peer over at it on display.

Cool, hope it lasts more than 3 years like that and not 3 days:p Werent you going to cover that bad body up in tracksuit or send for replacement?

In some sense it did pass the peekaboo test. I hope they continue to improve this material when they start making their 1/6 Bruce Lee. Theres going to be a lot of flexing moves for that guy. lol

nice shots larry.do you think if the outer elbow splits, could you apply a little filler/putty and touch up the paintwork(the same colour of course)to cover it,should be easy enough and providing the colour matches should hide any splits??

I'm torn because I really like the idea of seamless bodies, not only for this figure, but for the hobby in general. But it seems SC, along with the big boys like HT & EB, have not solved the rubber body riddle.

:lol I guess we'll see.

It's not at that level. The issues are hidden in the pose. If outer rips happen, then yeah, I think covering it up in the tracksuit (or the suit included with their older Tyson figure) is a nice plan.
or send for replacement?
SC actually offered to replace it. But I have to send it to them 1st. I'm still thinking about it, because I'd imagine it's not that cheap to send a 1/6 body overseas (I sent a 1/6 head to someone in the US not so long ago, which cost around $32US). If it costs $70US+ to send it, is it worth it, knowing I'm going to still pose it dynamically (I don't want 5 Mike Tyson's displayed with their arms down :lol)? Do I keep the one I have, with already known issues, or do I get a replacement, & risk a potentially whole different set of issues? I've thought about it, & I'm thinking I don't want to spend money sending it back.

That might work, but I don't know if I have the skill. Sounds like a nice idea if it rips, to get it in a desired permanent pose, then putty up all the rips & gaps, & turn it into a statue :lol

Yeah i totally agree, i much prefer the aesthetics to the seamless arms/legs/torso but you'd think there would be a little more testing gone into them before them ship them out for retail. Not just Storm here I'm talking across the board

with a peekaboo stance maybe a statue would have been a better idea:lol but with the repair I mentioned I doubt if you would repose him,so he'd be basicly a statue:wink1:

He's basically going to be an "arms down" statue for everyone after reading this thread :lol

Sending it back to them 1st isnt a problem. I had someone that had an issue with theirs (paint rub) and I told them to send the full body back with the fastest shipping from US, I believe it cost about 50USD. (Box and figure with bubble wrap)

Just wondering, did Storm offer to refund you the shipping costs?

I didn't ask if they would reimburse shipping costs. I'd feel weird asking for a straight up freebie from them. I think because I know how far I took the body. If it was an issue right out of the box, then yeah, I might fight for what I feel is my right, but it's not that situation.

Even $50US to ship it back is a bit much for me. That would make it kinda feel like I paid for a $120+ ($70 from TA plus $50 for shipping a replacement) body. Too much for this body.

I hear you. Maybe because I knew them well they offered to reimburse me, but I told them no, it wont be fair on them. It ended up coming out of my pocket, but I was fine with that.

Perhaps you could explain to them and see how they would reply? Im not sure how they would react, depending on their mood or something or maybe they could do a sideshow thing where you prove to them that you have destroy the entire body and they will send you it? Im not sure how things would work overall.

I'm considering buying a Phicen female figure, I read mostly good things about their seamless body, and I never saw people complain about deterioration (I didn't researched it enough yet, so, I might be wrong). And they are now releasing they male body as well.

Anyone knows if they have the same issues? Or did they really cracked the code?

Ah yes forgot about phicen. I bought one of the old phicen female bodies couple of years ago and the skin has sort of got a weird coating on it that looks like dry skin but it's not cracked fully. I hear the new phicen bodies are great.

The new male body is pretty small.

This figure allows the arms to be easily removed, so I think It would've been smarter of Storm Collectibles if they used SEAMLESS plastic arms -
- Relaxed left and right arms.
- Angled/posed left and right arms.

You could get some nice poses with that combo, and as a bonus, they would look astetically superior to the rubber arms(due to the rubber bunching up at the elbow bend), and most importantly they wouldn't rip!
I'd be extremely happy with that solution. What do you guys think?
