Re: 1/4 scale stormtrooper helmet

Looks like these PF's won't be numbered/have an eddition size.

I hate when Sideshow do that.:pfft:

I love you Trooper lids Jkno..
I have a Altmann's Armour (the more accurate phase II version)
Well it's actually my brother's but its been in my collection for a long
time now..:wink1:
I've been modifining it over the past few week to make it more authentic. I've replace the solid mic tips for real mesh one's, updated
the black tube stripes for blue, painted the black lines around the antena/ear piece, also painted the grey sections on the mouth.
And finaly fited it with a helmet liner. I passed on cutting out the mouth section and adding the mesh as its only a display piece and not for trooping in.

That helmet looks great. The details are not very sharp, but still looks very cool especially with the upgrades you did for it. Did you get Keith mic tips? The Altmanns Stormie above looks like a combination of stunt and hero helmets. Bubble lenses (hero) and more teeth on the frown (stunt), 2 ear screws instead of three (stunt). Anyway it is a great display piece! Congrats!!:clap

BTW the price of $700 is quite much for the ROTJ helmet in the link above IMO. There are more accurate helmets and way much cheaper. Even ROTJ ones which right now have been made from Joe R. original mold.

BTW the MLC and Kropserkel are more accurate than Altmanns Scout helmet and the upcoming Lonewolf version will be the mother of Scout helmets - but that might take some time.

I really think a PF should be numbered. If these aren't numbered and if they don't reveal the edition size, I'd be disappointed.

I'll be disappointed as well, but since I get this for myself and not for resale I'll get over it and enjoy my PF statue.

I got it for myself, but part of the appeal of these items as collectibles is their rare, limited nature. Hand numbering gives you a specific piece out of a precise known limited edition. Would I rather have Stormtrooper 0786/1500 or get a blank Stormtrooper and hope that Sideshow didn't make ten thousand of them and I could easily pick one up for a hundred bucks six months later? I don't want to sell it, but I also don't want to spend more than the market value--and hand numbering out of specific edition size adds to the sense of rarity. That's why it's done with so many limited edition collectibles.

Unfortunately seems SS considers Stormtrooper PF limited edition and nothing more. But how do we know they wont number them finally?

Hey Jkno, thanks for the compliment, much appreciated. You definately
know your stuff, it is indeed a combination of Hero and Stunt although
it does have the 3 screws. The lower ear screws are covered by the helmets black triming.
I purchased the mic tips from a seller named Doopydoos on ebay, they
really made a difference compared to the solid plastic original ones.

In regards to the $700 helmet in the link those are all sold out as that
advertising and webpage haven't been updated scince 2003/4
That helmet is the phase 1 my helmet is the phase II.

Tottaly agree Tomandshell..:lecture
Even though I always buy to keep I much prefur my collectibles to be numbered.

They won't be numbered because Sideshow knows that people will want to buy 2 or 3 or even more for their collections so they will make a lot of money off of it.

Here is an ATA ESB Stormtrooper helmet I received a few hours ago from a cool Rebelscum member:

Great looking Stormie jkno, what's your count up to now?

Thanks Verbal. If only talking about Stormie buckets here they are:

- eFX LE Hero
- MR CE
- SDS Hero
- SDS Stunt
- ATA Stunt ESB

And more coming :D I will take a pic with all the helmets when they all are here, thus it can take some time :)

that's an awesome lineup, indeed. I can't wait to see all the Stormie's you have in one pic and/or maybe a photo montage with music:)...if you feel like sharing, of course:monkey3

I wouldnt buy two of these if you cant pose them differently...i think personally they would look silly having more than once in the exact same pose..and a turned or adjusted head is still the same thing.

True, maybe their second Stormtrooper will have a different blaster pose with the same body...hopefully...:dunno

Nice Jkno, congrats.
The only thing I don't like which is more apparent on the stunt helmets
it the gap between the eyes and the brow line. I prefer the black trim
to be straight across the top of the eyes.
Can't wait to see your full line up of bucket's mate.

I know what you mean. The eFX, MR and SDS Hero have a very straight brow trim. But I also like the brow to look like on the movies. A few more buckets will arrive and then I'll take a shot

I just got a preorder in for the storm trooper pf I hope the new vader pf comes out soon and a new look luke skywalker pf still debating if I want to order the luke pf cause the light up sucks on that compared to the new darth maul I have coming.

I doubt we'll see a new Luke for awhile, but I definitely can't wait to see what the new Vader will look like. I just can't pull the trigger on the first version. It's definitely nice looking, but I don't know, just something about it that's making me hesitant:dunno
