Akuma has a lower defense/HP rating than every other character in the game, so he has to be played defensively.

bleh... most of the females have low defense ratings, and it seems that, aside from Rose, most of them you have to play moderately offensively.

I appreciate an asskicking from a good akuma player, but I really hate the the ones who constantly throw the air fireballs, then the only other thing they do is mix them up with ground fireballs. So annoying. Granted, they're good defensive attacks to give you some distance, but he has such a good offensive game as well.

I know what you mean,.... air fireball, jump back into corner and ground fireball, then when you jump in, they teleport to the other side and rinse and repeat. annoying as ^^^^.

Actually, that's incorrect. All the female characters except Crimson Viper have comparable HP ratings to many of the male characters (except the beefy ones like Zangief or Abel) and their defense ratings are average compared to Akuma and Seth, who have the lowest in the game. And even then most of the female characters have high speed ratings, which compensates.

is that true? I've noticed that chun-li and cammy tend to take more punishment per hit in general (though maybe it's an illusion, since that their attacks don't take as much damage, so my mind is balancing it out somehow)

A bit wrong there, Seth does.

damn finally finished all of cammys normal and hard trials. got her blonde arrow title and character icons. I'll be rockin those from now on :rock

As an Akuma player I am appalled by these tactics. Akuma can kick so much ass up close. :monkey2

Any idea if Capcom is going to release more stages? I'm getting a little bored of the current stages and would like a few more.

I'm sure it was noted before but I'm a little disappointed by some of the differences between the Super and Ultra Combos...mostly because some characters HAVE NONE!!!!!!

Ryu's Ultra and Super are both souped up Hadokens...why not throw a little more variety in there and have his Super be something else? At least Ken has his Shoryureppa and Shinryuken with differences!

I was wondering where Ryu's Third Strike Shin Shoryuken was until I saw Gouken had it.

This is one thing that I wish Capcom worked on more...some characters have obvious differences between their Super and Ultra, while others don't (aside from the change in camera angles and focus).

Third Strike, Alpha, etc. most character's super attacks were ALL unique...you couldn't re-use those Capcom?

I think youre looking at it all wrong. The ultra/supers aren't merely there for aesthetic purposes only. the functionality of them is the main thing.

Ryu's super/ultra is one of the best of all characters because you can set it up and use it effectively even from a simple dragon punch, then link to super/ultra. Ken's is one of the worst and hardest to use effectively since the actual frame that hits the opponent takes long enough that it is easily blocked even by someone jumping into it given the right distance.

Bahhhh!!! I hate those sdjfgsjdfgsjf who drop their connection to avoid losing a fight.

was playing someone who had a very good Ryu (and probably high BP based on his icon/title). barely beat him first round, lost the second, but realized his technique. third round I was going perfect with him having only 1/4 power left AND got him dizzy with my super meter full. As I was about to pull the super to finish him off, disconnected. ARGH

lol i know ive lost connection during a fight when i was happen to be losing, I right away thought "oh god, hope they dont think i chickened out." :D

Sometimes my connection is good, other times its crummy.

how many BPs are you up to MooMoo?

I'm at 2,500 right now. I actually got up to 2,900 about 2 weeks ago, but had a string of bad luck with people at 4k so I lost a bunch of games. and the games I won at that time didn't help balance the losses out--they earned me less than 30 or so BP, since I seemed to keep getting paired with people with low BP.

Getting RE5 and not playing SF much hasn't helped either. lol.

What about you?

Started playing ranked again once in awhile. Im sitting at about 2400 right now. Yeah I learned my lesson matching against people with less than 1000 and gaining like 10 BP while they can make 100+ off of me lol. I just search for same skill or higher.

I'm at 3300 but its not worth playing ranked anymore, with quitters and the fact the for a win I get +1 BP-+10 BP most of the time yet a loss takes 100 or more BP away.

Really?...............

I personally think Ryu's special moves are horrible. First you have to get the timing right.....fine, but then even if you do hit it the move is so weak compared to Ken's (or anyone else's). I find Ken's move far more powerful and the move much easier to hit because as long as you are near the person and they don't block you pretty much got it. As with Ryu's the Hadoken goes soooooo slow and you can easily jump over it.

Maybe we are both right? And all that means is that it depends on the person whom is playing as that character. I am not biased toward either character, I prefer Ryu but I am highly disappointed by him in this game.

I understand what you are saying about the difference in the Ultra and Super combos. But I do agree with Bardoon's point. I did like the variety of Super combos in third strike and it would have been nice to see each character have their Super and Ultra be different. Ryu's Shin-Shorukin (sp?) was one of the greatest special moves ever. And now Gouken has it :'(.
