We're not buying Mercedes cars or Subway sandwiches here. Your analogies have no bearing on the substance of these statues. The statues are all about aesthetics. I like that these dinos are made functionally to bear their weight and hold a dynamic pose. IMO the look, pose and paint apps are what are important. I'm less concerned with the weight.

Of course were not..which is why I'm using analogies to demonstrate my point. I've already come out and said point blank I prefer solid over hollow. A few people here still don't seem to understand why though. So if you don't understand my point by now......I guess you drive a honda.

Chris

The Styracosaurus is no Hulk PF, but I am pretty sure it's solid. :dunno

I never got the impression that any of the current Dino pieces were light, they have all felt solid to me; certainly in comparison to say the Sabretooth LSB. :angelsmil

Same here. Some hollow spots to counterbalance weight but mostly solid. The Sabretooth LSB remains the standard, it seems. :D

Stop using bad analogies, that's why we can't understand your point.. :lol Your also expecting people to agree with your point, which on a discussion board is wishful thinking. At least try to understand our points (your assuming that everyone will agree with you), as you can see from some of our responses just in this thread alone, there are opposing opinions.

Agreed, and those hollow spots are really necessary given nthe precarious poses some of these guys are in. heh heh

Sturdi-ness, durability, and look all make a quality product....these are sturdy due to how they are made...no clue if being completely solid would help their durability....lastly their look is fine by me. So 2 out a possible 3 isn't bad eh ?

I believe solid ploy would make anything even more ridged. I once had to destroy a PF king leonidas and COULD NOT break the torso. I was hitting it with a 3 pound steel mallet as hard as I could and could not break or crack the torso. Of course thinner parts of the statue will require less effort to break (legs and arms). But Styracosaurus seems to feel hallow right at its thickest point (torso).
I can understand making Carnotaurus hollow because it would have alot of forward weight all bearing down on its one hind leg. Styracosaurus however has a pose similar to a tripod. Theirs no reason why it wouldnt be able to support the weight if it was made of solid poly.
Has anyone had to destroy a dino piece yet?.....Im really curious to see whats inside.

Chris

Fortunatly no.. lol

Adrian is supposed to be putting up his own site and he said it will have progress pics of the Dinosauria pieces he worked on. So hopefully we will get to see the interiors..I'd love to see how the Rex VS piece is put together.

Hollowing a statue mostly benefits Sideshow's bottom line, not mines, save for a few bucks on shipping. I like them solid, because I collect quality and to know that the manufacturer spared no expense on something that I plan to keep for a long time.

Is the whole solid/hollow issue still being debated in this thread? :lol Every time the thread gets bumped I hope to see something paleo-related. Instead I get posts on counterbalancing and such. Not that there's anything wrong with that, for those of you interested in such things. I, however, started playing "Steamboat Mickey" in my head once the conversation went tangential.

It's a real and valid discussion/question, esp on pieces like the Fett PF and the already-mentioned Sabretooth LSB; but the Styrac rocks! :rock

'Tis indeed in the cases you mentioned. With the Dinosauria pieces, just based on the statues I have here in my collection, it seems moot. A real discussion, but still an eye-roller to find as the topic in a Dinosauria thread. :lol

I am surprised that the Tyrannosaurus Rex VS Triceratops Diorama regular version sold out and the exclusive is not. if people are cheaping out on 10.00 that does not make sense to me - besides for 10.00 more the skull sculpt you get is worth it becuase in the long run you will get your moneys worth. any ideas on that?

I've been wondering the same thing?....same with the latest Allosaurus dio. Why arent these sold out yet:confused:

I hope the ES is ridiculously low...

Chris

Likewise, I am wondering why haven't the Allosaurus VS Camarasaurus sold out yet? And that is for both the Regular and Ex Editions.

And based on the previous Dinosauria items, the ES for these are not exactly high (around 100 to 250 for the Ex and 250 to 500 for the Regular). At this rate, SS will probably drop this line faster than we can shout "Dinosaurs".

Well you can count me amongst those who won't be collecting the line anymore. I returned a faulty T-Rex vs Tri dio only to be told there were no more replacements for it (even though it's still 'in stock' and available to order!) So I just cancelled the whole line with them.

Hey, if SS can't get behind their products and support those customers who have bought into the line, I'm sure as heck not going to throw more money at them. They should understand this is a minority interest product and look after those who have been willing to make the investment. Big thumbs down from me for their corporate policies on these items.

Sorry to hear about your experience. They've always treated me quite well so I can't say as I've ever had a comparable situation. At least it'll give you funds to allocate elsewhere. I, for one, am greatly looking forward to any and all future Dinosauria releases in the foreseeable future. :rock

me too! love this line!

The maquettes seem to sell better. They are all sold out except for the reg Rex and Styrac. I think the line is doing just fine. I've also noticed that dealers are sold out on a number of them. I'm sure Sideshow recognized this line wouldn't be a line where they would make almost a thousand and sell out immediately.
