Toys. Buy all the stuff you want now because nobody will be making them in 10 years, maybe less.
Nah… even kids still love toys. And collectors pay so much for collectibles. It’s not going away . Also Japan is huge in the figure game. Toys r us did cause they couldn’t handle money right. Kids still play with toys but it’s just not on that same level cause most of the stuff out toy wise is trash I guess lol.

but collectors blow to much money on collectibles for it to die.

Well king shark is capturing the hearts of everyone. Seeing a lot of him lately but yea I think billion dollar movies are dead. Theater owners must be sooooo pissed. A difference a year can make. 2019 they had endgame and were riding high. 2020 Covid hits and studios are hesitant to release a movie.
Looks like marvel should have just stuck with characters people actually care about and not get a big head and release z list character movies. Mrs chi and those eternal morons are gonna bomb hard

The cinema experience is definitely great technically, it's the people aspect that stinks. People think they're in their living room and act like it. Also, I think the big difference between now and the 70s and 80s is the quality of technology available to people in their home. I've got a 4k tv and decent surround sound that cost just a couple grand total and my experience is pretty awesome. I think it's the superior home technology that will ultimately drive the end of the movie going experience...
You nailed it.

Look at all the people still goi g to spirting events. People want to be where the action is and the electricity is where other people are at. Plenty of drunks, loud mouths and traffic, yet people still go. The theater experience is still superior to whatever the average joe has at home.

I wouldn’t trade my theater audience from Avengers1/CW/IW/EG for anything.
What was the audience like when you saw the OT in theaters in the 70's and 80's?

When I went to see TPM in 1999, it was unlike any previous theater experience. There were huge lines of people waiting, in some places camping out for days. There were people dressed in costumes, people with lightsabers, and when the film started and the music hit, the crowd cheered and I could see all this lightsabers in the air, some lighting up. Things got pretty quiet after that, especially when walking out of the theater. :lol

I was 12 when TPM came out. It was the first Star Wars film I watched... :monkey1 :chase :monkey1

I like to see concerts with other people. It's a real event, happening in front of me with real people onstage and real people in the audience.

But I don't particularly like seeing movies with other people. I'm content to sit in an empty theater and watch it in peace. Japan is great for that. You can hear a pin drop during movies.

I cringe at people screaming and whooping at recorded footage. It's bizarre behavior. "Cheering" for Captain America like he just scored a 3 pointer in the last seconds of a game?

Laughing at jokes...yeah I get that. But I don't really get the notion of "cheering" at movies. Captain America can't hear you.

Thank you.

I've been dead inside for a long time.

If I'm lucky, I get a fleeting moment of joy every now and then, but I honestly can't remember the last time I felt a sustained feeling of happiness or contentment.

Death starts looking pretty good when you have nothing to live for.

There was a time in my early 20's when I used to go to the cinema by myself. I worked antisocial hours so would go to midweek (early afternoon) showings. Always guaranteed to be quiet - was great! 😁

I am the same. I don't want to have to worry about someone else distracting me. I like to get the full immersive experience.

There are some female websites that do the trick for me.

I wish that were true, but unfortunately it's not an act.

I'm a 43 year old walking nine inch nail song from the 90s.

It's not a pretty sight.

I wish I'd have heeded the Dean's warning.

Hey that was just supposed to be a light hearted jab at your capacity to enjoy movies not an indictment of your life or anything! 😬
