Same source, same problems... I'm telling ya, they should've gone with the original version and not that Nu52 crap. As for figs, eh, after reading what I read, thanks, but no thanks...

The funny thing is that it seems like they are using the New 52 as a pretty large basis for their current run of films but now DC just rebooted itself again. Seems like a mistake in the long run to me. Especially when the New 52 was fairly divisive amongst fans to begin with. They should have just incorporated different elements from the history of the characters.

Thing is, the Nu52 version is nothing like the original Suicide Squad. They just grabbed a few cool-looking villains and wrote it like a straight-up action book, filled with one-liners, sexxxy Harley and the like. So when it was evident that the film would take the same direction, I was worried, but I trusted Ayer. Now, due to the new info, I can safely say all my fears have been confirmed. This is a style over substance movie that yet again, tries to be artistic.

The original Squad was a dark book, mostly preoccupied with questions of morality. The new one is just "pew! pew!". It's the same with GotG. The 2008 vol was great, but then Marvel went and just turned the new book into a joke. Thing is, whereas GotG the movie was great, Suicide Squad looks as if it'll not be one. Granted, the reshoots may prove useful, but after I read what I read, I felt like putting my head underwater and screaming...

Truly a shame, as I was looking forward to it. I was hoping to be surprised, alas, twas not meant to be... Oh well, from what I hear the Harley scene at the club is hawt...

Well I think it's fairly safe to assume that this film wasn't made with first intentions of being about the Suicide Squad. That was just an easy excuse to try and sell a film that heavily features Harley and can introduce us to The Joker. I highly doubt that there's much more motivation to making this film so early on.

Could very well be the case. They should've gone with a Gotham Sirens movie though. 3 females in one movie would've guaranteed massive media coverage if anything.

I think the whole lineup of films to date shows a lack of a real vision. There should have been a Batman solo film before anything else and they should have just made that about The Joker and Harley. Then they could have moved on to other things like this later. I think it's an odd choice to focus on this so early on when so little has been established in the DC films to date and the things that have been haven't been all that well received.

Well, they're taking the Nu52 approach and sumping us right in the middle of the "story", but I can't say it's working out so great thus far. A Cyborg slo over a Teen Titans movie? Batman not even announced? Green Lantern not a part of the JL? Theor plan ain't so good. Taking chances isn't bad, and Suicide Squad could've worked, but it looks like it's more of the same. We'll see though.

You lot aren't the writers from WhatCulture are ya?! Writing a film off two months before its released, come on! I smell some Marvel fan boys in this forum!!

I get tired of being accused of being a fanboy for one or the other. Marvel simply is making better films at the moment. I like DC for their comics, tv shows, the DCAU, and older films but I feel like their current crop of films are just not the greatest.
