I'm enjoying this at the moment - good to remenisce (?sp), though I won't be buying the new DVDs for the original versions - I quite like the special editions!

cool!! im probably gonna pick them up, but not at first like i did with the last set. the new additions look nice and im glad i have some of the "rare" dvds that were recorded from the VHS tapes.

I will be getting all three movies when they come out because usually the first week is when they are the cheapest. I love the originals and I cant wait to experience them again.

Me too. I can't wait to see them as I did in the theater.

I don't have them on DVD yet because I've been waiting for something like this. Even though it's just a Laser Disc transfer, I don't care. I'm getting them for the holidays, so it's not MY money spent anyway. And we all knowone day they'll put out a super box and I'll get that too, but I need a fix NOW

Actually I heard a rumor somewhere that next year they are going to release all 6 movies on DVD with a ton of extras. This version would include deleted scences which would be great. Maybe we can finally see the Anchorhead scene, Wampas attacking Snowtroopers and the Sandstorm in Jedi.

I all ready have a dvd with all that on it so I have no interest in the Super Special Editions box set in 2007. For me all the changes just make the OT worse and I sure as heck don't need any PT special editions.

It's funny that they cropped the original version's black bars to make it look like an anamorphic transfer, matching the 2004 edition. They should have given the '77 version the extra thick black bars that we will be getting on DVD next month.

Oh, nevermind...

:horse

I prefer the special editions. They're not perfect, but overall I think they're a great improvement.

These'd be nice to have as a completist, but I know I'm always going to throw in the latest and greatest when I want to watch the movies, so I think I'm going to pass.

As much as I love the OOT, I really love the Lowry digital cleanup done for the 2004 editions!

I agree. I prefer the SE as well. The only reasons why I will buy (especially when you remember that a new version is coming out next year) is 1) it is what I saw as a good. So Its a nostalgia trip and 2) Lack of Jedi Rocks, and the return of the YUB YUB song and sebastian shaw's eyebrows and spirit! :monkey5

I have been waiting for this for a long time. I refuse to watch anything other than what I grew up watching in the theater and my VHS tapes.

I'm looking forward to getting these. Just to see what's changed on screen as it moves. Those pics though are fun to look at and show you some of whats changed.

Yeah, it's interesting the subtle things they changed, contrasted with some major things they left alone.

I love that shot of the Falcon lifting up to blast out of Mos Eisley, one of my favorite enhancements in the SE.

Yeah, it's the little things that are the coolest I agree. I like most of the changes made in the SE but having the Originals will be a cool thing.

I'm still bummed these aren't anamorphic, but I will gladly add them to my collection since they had such an impact on my childhood.

Personally, I would love to buy these but without an anamorphic transfer, I won't. They would look unwatchable on my TV even though I would love to see them again. George Lucas is a $$$$ grubbing $#%@#.

Cheers,

Brad

Yeah, there were a few things I never realized before... like the detention center corridor. I guess unless you're anal retentive, like Lucas, I never would have noticed it. :lol
