The Lord of the Rings regained the lead after Boromir defeated Lando in last week's poll. This week could once again return things to a tie, or help LOTR increase its lead over Star Wars. There are only four polls left, so support your saga of choice and take a minute to vote for your favorite character:

This noble hero needs great wisdom in his duties as an influential and highly placed leader amongst the forces of good. While the forces of evil use deception to blind him for a time, this shroud is ultimately lifted, and he comes to understand the true nature of his enemy. He leaves his council chamber and grabs his weapon for one final battle, bravely leading his most trusted and skilled allies into a confrontation that ultimately claims his life.

PAST POLL RESULTS:
1. Han Solo (39) VS. Aragorn (80)
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi (41) VS. Gandalf (62)
3. C-3PO & R2-D2 (44) VS. Merry & Pippin (42)
4. Luke (56) VS. Frodo (40)
5. Darth Maul (62) VS. Lurtz (28)
6. Chewbacca (41) VS. Gimli (44)
7. Count Dooku (19) VS. Saruman (65)
8. General Grievous (58) VS. Gothmog (29)
9. Princess Leia (26) VS. Legolas (39)[/QUOTE]
10. Darth Vader (61) VS. The Witch King (21)
11. Lando (23) VS. Boromir (52)

I voted Mace. I like Theoden's character too, but all the self pity baggage he carries is a bit of a turn off.

Give me Mace. He was hinge on the dungeon door that kept Anakin a prisoner of the Dark Side. :emperor

Theoden. That scene in ROTK when he's rallying the troops is just brilliant.

Mace was kind of a *********. I wasn't too sad when he got zapped out that window. :emperor

I love them both equally, so I voted for who would win in a fight, which was obviously Mace. But both are, in my opinion, amazing characters and a favorite from each saga.

I had to go with Thedoden on this one.
All Mace's Jedi powers and knowledge still didn't help him detect that the
Emperor/Palpatine was the hidden Sith Lord. That, plus he was directly
responsible for Anakin turning to the Dark Side due to his not making
Anakin see what was truly going on.

Have to go with Theoden. And remember, I am using the films as my basis. If I were to use the books, I would say Mace as he was a much deeper character in the novels, where as Theoden was the other way around..

I just liked Theoden's character arc. He was lost in the beginning, as he let fear drive him into cowering and despair... But as soon as he faced those fears, he dove headlong into danger. I respect that.

Mace; He's played by Samuel L. Jackson, He's got a freakin' nice lightsaber, He kicks it. And besides, if you include the Clone Wars cartoons then he's practically god.

While I am a Star Wars fan first and foremost, I had to vote for Theoden. For some reason I haven't been much of a Mace fan, yet he was one the Sideshow figures I wanted most made. Go figure?

Theoden had much more depth to him and he likely new he was going to die at the end of RotK but helped fight anyway. Mace figured he'd whup on Palpatine and not have a problem at all and was surprised he got killed.

Can't wait for the Emperor vs Sauron! (at least I expect that is going to be it). And Yoda!

Tom I just have to tell you how much I love these polls. I'm going to miss them when they are over. Hope you come up with another set of polls later. Some of the choices you have paired against each other have been great. Some I never would have thought of, like this one. The Leia/Legolas one was also unexpected, but made great sense. Thanks again! :rock

I voted for Theoden.

Yes, Mace was a BMF, but how much character development did he have? On the other hand it was great to watch Theoden go from a possessed old man to the "Renewed".

And once again, this is not about who would win in a fight. Everyone should know this by now. Right? :monkey1

Voted for Theoden. Samuel Jackson seemed to be reading from cue cards everytime he spoke. I'm sure he wasn't, but the character and dialogue seemed like an unnatural fit for him. I thought that his only good scene was in Attack of the Clones when he surprised Dooku on the balcony. His action sequences were good as long as he didn't speak. On the other hand, Bernard Hill fit his character perfectly and added much needed depth and emotion to the story of Theoden and Rohan.

Like other characters, I think this leads back to Lucas and his failure to develope important characters and give them some life.

I voted for Mace on this one, even though I really didn't think his character was as cool as he should have been. But even so, It felt like Theoden was always looking to others to make decisions about what to do (until the very end that is) and Mace always seemed more assured.

While I voted for Theoden, Mace did provide for me one of the PT's funniest lines. When Anakin tells him Palpatine is a Sith Lord, the way he repeats it back to him just cracks me up. "A Sith Lord!!!!"
