I didn't care much for the film version of the KOTD, I voted Fett. His mystique has always appealed to me, I am a sucker for a good costume.

"Not strictly a hero, not strictly a villain, this secondary character has shifting allegiances--yet the consequences of his loyalty impact the story at a critical moment. Mysterious and highly dangerous, he comes from the shadowy underground and upsets the balance of power when he appears by surprise in a majestic city that the heroes thought would be safe--but which turns out to be a battleground. Once he has played his part in seeing a debt fulfilled, he is ultimately blown away in the breeze and sinks into the ground, never to be seen or heard from again."

I think you are off-base with this one, the description doesn't even fit both characters, which you have usually amused me with...

How did Boba's allegiance shift, ever? He always sided with MONEY. His loyalty was only towards MONEY (spare me the SW EU all youse SW fanatics (I hereby out myself all SW OT Lover only), I used to read those novels and comics as a kid)

And no one thought Minas Tirith ("majestic city") would be safe, in fact Gandalf knew that Sauron would strike there because he believed the One Ring to be there. (also strategically, he had to overcome Minas Tirith first)Gandalf LURED Sauron's armies to the majestic city and the Rohirrim rode out to aid the Gondorians in what seemed a futile battle.

And what debt did Fett fulfill? I mean, of his own free will? You could say, he received punishment but didn't really fulfill any debt of his own volition.

Anyway, I've been going on a bit because I've usually been very impressed with these comparisons but this one doesn't gel for me. I think Boba Fett is the cooler character but this seems almost like a match-up to ensure SW wins. Which is why I vote for KOTD. :D

Without Fett you would have no cliffhanger ending for Empire Strikes Back.
If you don't have the KOTD I think Sauron probably wins.

Yeah, by just a bit. :lol
Well, you never know. Legolas was able to take down an olyphant by himself, so they still would have had a chance at Minas tirith.:rotfl

Good point! I wonder if he used a cheat code to take it down so easy? :lol

Sorry. It's been getting harder and harder to match up characters and write up a description that fits both. Fett didn't fulfill a debt of his own--I was referring to Han's debt to Jabba, the fulfillment of which Fett was involved in. And sometimes Fett worked for the Empire, sometimes he worked for Jabba, so as a bounty hunter for hire I thought that counted as having shifting allegiances. But they are both green! They have that in common. Is there another LOTR character that Boba Fett should have been paired with? I couldn't think of one, and I really wanted to have the chance to vote for Fett at some point. At any rate, it will all be done next week and I won't have to do any more stretching to come up with opponents. Maybe I should have limited it to ten weeks instead and focused on only the main characters.

Not true, Aragorn's second choice if the KotD didn't want to help him was Chuck Norris.

Surely The Fett Man....I remember reading an interview where PJ stated that he wasn't a fan of the deus ex machina army of the dead to convienetly come and clear gondor of orcs, I would have to agree.

That would have been a great second choice. Probably should have gone with him to begin with. :lol

Seriously, this vote is going more on just looks and personal feelings than their importance to their individual story. If people voted based on that then the KOTD would wins hands down.

Well, I meant to vote for KOTD because Fett never really did anything important in the movies, but I accidently voted for Fett.

So if KOTD loses by 1 vote, we can blame you? :rotfl

:lol :rotfl :lol :rotfl Good one Josh1....

I had to vote Fett.... As much as I liked KOTD, Fett just sparked something in my head as a kid. I've always been a fan of the mysterious stranger in movies, be it Fett... Clint Eastwood....Wolverine...etc.... Just the questions raised by his being there and his gruff silence make him worth being in the story and hereby earns him his cult status.

Fett makes you WANT to know more about him, even though he was taken out like a chump by Han... You still are curious about his origins and his methods.
