SW VS. LOTR #5: Darth Maul VS. Lurtz

MAUL!.. He was the saving grace of TPM.

It's the matchup of the characters with the lowest screentime and characterization of their respective trilogies.

At least Lurtz fell to a man and not a teenager.

Lurtz was cool -- loosing an arm and still fighting.

But I voted Maul because he's just about the only villain in all six SW movies that died a good death.

Darth Maul approaches Lurtz. Lurts draws a dirty arrow from his quiver and.... THUMP! A force push send him flying backwards into a tree... Maul leaps forwward and.... zzzzzzlpts tttssssssaaaahhnngggg.... Lurts' arms, head, and torso all fall to the ground...

I don't think it's fair to call Obi a Padawan since he got Knighted as soon as they got back. It's not like Maul got killed by some kid in the Jedi Temple.

I voted for Maul. He had a purpose....he was an apprentice. Lurtz was just another orc chasing hobbits through the woods.

Although, they both had excellent death scenes, Maul's was more significant to the saga....for there was a loss of an apprentice. When Lurtz died, the orcs continued the chase.

Don't remember Lurtz from LoTR books, seems like he was just invented JUST to kill boromir...don't like that deus ex machina there...at least darth maul had a purpose. granted, both are interesting looking killing machines, I would have to give the edge to :maul . Plus, Lurtz didn't find with Duel of the Fates in the background.

I think Maul & Lurtz is a perfect match up. Maul is way to small time to go up against Saruman. Its either Vader or The Emperor up against Saruman. Probably Vader vs Sarumon & the Emperor vs Sauron.

There is no one in the LOTR that can compete with Vader! I don't think there's anyone in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy world that can compete with Vader. I love Saruman but he's no match for the most iconic Villian ever!

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you meant that. That's the one downfall to LOTR, the main villian doesn't even have a body. I have no idea who Tom has lined up to go against Vader, Sauron would be the most logical.
