All I'm saying is we saw Yoda fight twice, and how many of those fights did he win?

There is no one in the LOTR that can compete with Vader! I don't think there's anyone in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy world that can compete with Vader. I love Saruman but he's no match for the most iconic Villian ever!

I think that Melkor could take Vader across his knee and toss him around like a little girl. But he isn't in LoTR, only pre-LoTR.

My friend lent me the Silmarilian and I'll most likely start it this weekend. I'm really exited to finally read about all these little things that I know only a bit about.

Trust me man, once you start the Silmarillian, you will want to read about the complete History of Middle-Earth. And truthfully, this is how I truley became addicted to anything Tolkien.

Lurtz all the way!
Even both really only serve to provide a physical enemy in an otherwise "disembodied" villian part of the story. Darth Sidious is manipulating politics behind the scenes, and Sauron/Saruman are in their respective towers.

Darth Maul was too ****y, and surprised when Obi-Wan cut him in two, whereas Lurtz just got more angry when Aragorn chopped off an arm and put his sword through his torso. I love that Lurtz grabs the sword and tries to actually move closer to Aragorn!

Sorry for the unintentional "dirty" word, I meant arrogant!

Yeah, but he probably should have tried to move away and maybe he would have kept his head. Maul all the way.

I agree with Carbo. You'll be blown away when you read it. Just be prepared, it takes a long time to read this type of writing, but it's worth it.

I know that it reads as a mythology but I am fairly familiar with a lot of the names so that should help. My ex bought me an atlas of middle earth and it had a pretty decent history in it. I just need to finish Goblet of Fire, which will be early this week.

And Maul wins this hands down.

I don't know...I thought I was familiar with the names as well, and I had to make a photocopy of the family trees at the end of the book and had to keep looking back and forth to find out who was who. Almost as bad as the volume series History Of Middle-Earth, when everybody has like 12 different names....

Had to go with Maul on this one. :maul He would use the force to keep Lurtz from getting anything off and then use his saber to slice him in half.

I think that Lurtz had a better death scene. Maul just stood there and watched Obi-Wan fly through the air and grab Qui-Gon's saber and cut him in half. He was too ****y and was kind of gloating/toying with Obi-Wan before finishing him off, and that's what got him killed. Lurtz, on the other hand, stayed aggressive right up to the end--even when he was impaled he still wanted Aragorn to know who was boss.

Lurtz has the better intro to the fight as well. He nonchalantly approaches Boromir  because he knows he is the best.

This is not a poll of who would win in a fight!!!!

This is who is your favorite of the two characters. There is no one in the LOTR that could compete with any of the force users from SW, except the Wizards of course but they seem to have more limitations than the Jedi/Sith.

He was an icon before you even knew his name or heard a single word.Maul all the way!!:maul :maul :maul

i agree 100% and voted for Maul. if you want to know why Maul is such a B.A. read the book Darth Maul: Shadowhunter. its a prequel to TPM and is about Maul hunting down people that know about the Trade Federation conspiracy in the movie. Maul snuffs them all out and keeps everything on the down-low.:maul
