As soon as my Wolf LSB refund comes in, I think I'll be punching the buy now button. Shame pound sterling just took a dive though! I may wait a little while to see if it recovers.

Yeah, I'm losing the plot, this was meant for the Iron Studios Darth Vader thread! I must have had two tabs open or something? I am not getting one piece of plastic refunded to buy another... :lol

It would seem some people ARE though :) - and whilst I sincerely wish them the best with their purchase - I REALLY don't get why folks wouldn't AT LEAST wait for in-hand pics/reviews :dunno

Sadshow won't let folks off the hook so easily next time.

Each to their own I suppose, I learned the hard way with Wolf. I do sincerely hope that this plastic trend ends ASAP however. Sideshow do make some really nice things and I'd hate to have to pass on statues I like in future due to the material used on them. That said, there is plenty of competition now with the likes of Prime 1, Iron studios, PCS and XM etc. All of whom seem to be sticking with other materials. And I agree, waiting for in hand pictures and opinions is the sensible option these days!

I think doing these in vinylis a big shift in the collectors market. Sure we see Japanese manga in vinyl and lower cost items all the time....

It’s just disconcerting to see such a high price for a medium that has been associated for so long with lower end figures.

SSC will talk up all the supposed benefits, of course, but we really have to ask the question, what if the real motivation for switching to vinyl?

Already been asked, already been answered.

Once you remove the Sideshow spin, the only LEGIT reason seems to be reduced breakages (and POSSIBLY cheaper shipping - not sure on that yet).

Sorry - but they should design better and pack better - NOT make stuff out of plastic.

Igo tried to convince everyone of how great PVC was back when everyone found out that the Man of Steel PF was going to be 100% PVC. Not many people were convinced back then and I doubt many will be convinced now. That's a hard sell to convince people that plastic is a fine material for high end collectibles when in the past plastic has always been associated with cheap items.

Agree ... and on breakages, Sideshow must have a lot of returns on their polystone statues ... hence vinyl

That Man of Steel Supes is worhtless. I think it sells for under $200. I mean the pose was crap too, but it should tell Sideshow something.

I think out local Sideshow distributor had lots of cancellations of the MoS PF, and they became dead weight in their warehouse and store branches that they just have them raffled off every now and then.

The crazy thing is I believe this (the Man of Steel statue) wouldn't be too bad of a statue if a new reworked/repainted head sculpt was on it.

They really S. h. o. t. them selves in the foot with PVC Swampy. If he was polystone it would be a masterpiece.
