When we walked into the theater on Saturday the whole upper section was already full, by the time the movie started the whole thing was packed! I didn't expect to see that many people.

Saw this movie a little over a week ago. Freakin AWESOME! The critics complain that its mindless and lacking. They complained about no twists or turns, and that everything was pretty much spelled out at the beginning.

I think that they kinda missed that THAT was the whole point of the movie. No sub-plot. No twists. No turns. Just one man trying to save his daughter. He didnt care about collateral damage. Didnt care about the law. Didnt care about stopping the bad guys. The dude was in it for his daughter and that was it. LOVED it. I think if you have a child (especially a daughter) the movie draws you in even more. Excellent!

I think I posted this somewhere else already, but I agree completely about the strength of the simplicity of the story, and actually got a real kick out of how little he cared for anyone else.

He found loads of other exploited girls on 2 occasions, and just left them! He took one away, but only to find out where his daughter was. Who knows what happened to her after she gave him the info. he wanted (did they show it? I don't remember). He obviously didn't care.

The only bad thing about this is that FOX looks at movies like Taken and Live Free or Die Hard and think they made a good decision when cutting them back to PG-13 flicks.

:lecture.

I loved this movie, but I hate the fact that FOX is getting the dough.

Exactly. It wasnt a "save the world" kinda thing. Refreshing to see a "good guy" that doesnt have to save everyone he comes across. It really was a micro plot line, but it worked sooo well.

I just wouldn't pay the starting bid on his daughter, $100,000.

Ha, yeah but did you see the shiek? To him she was a goddess. Plus she was "certified pure". That line freaked me out....someone was checking...another level of creepy. Although they threw that line in there so that you knew she had'nt been defiled like the other chicks.

Just saw this movie tonight. The best part was how the violence/fight scenes weren't stylized like so many movies are these days. That crap gets old. This was just a guy kicking ass. No slow motion sequences, no wacky martial arts moves, it wasn't sped up, no fake blood splatters. It was perfectly shot and realistic.

I loved the film, and it was so nice to see a movie with hero so driven with a singular purpose that I'm sure many dads here could somewhat relate to (I'm assuming... I don't have a daughter [but I'd probably want to do what Bryan did if I were placed in his situation]).

I need to watch it again, simply because I was a little confused during the scene before Bryan kills the guy who was on the phone.

Casting Liam Neeson was perfect. I always loved him in his more dramatic roles, and he brought such a strong, believable presence to the film. I'm sure I would have laughed if a pretty boy like George Clooney was cast in the role.

My thoughts as well.

It was also good to see a movie with no wishy washy ambiguity or hypocritical political correctness. Just good ol' fashioned good guy on a path of destruction to free the innocent.
