Not maybe taller make it accurate sale wise with moveable parts virtually make an R2-D2 with as much attention to detail as the new droid you just came out.

I do want a true mini R2, i don''t care if he moves that might go haywire. Lights, sounds appropriate height, usable doors for attachments he uses in film. the back could house his battery for easy replacement. if they do a squawk box it should be hidden and small maybe the space where leia gave him the disk have that open with hidden speaker.

he is totally doable since they did the prob droid R2 should be a cinch although if the real probe droid was 8ft then it should have been 15-16" before base. since chewie is 7ft making him 14-15".
a 1/6 r2 should be 6.5-7" tall

I'd say SS, after the probot, will be ready to tackle R2 and it would be very appropriate for them to. That said, I'd be pissed as **** to wait all this time and get an R2 made from that abs plastic that the battle droids and probably the probot will be made from. Just wouldn't be the companion piece to the Tomashii 3PO, even though it'd look good on the shelf, in the purest sense of the materials, I'd not be satisfied... though I'd have little choice but to buy it.

it might be smaller in width but it's labeled as 6" and so is kenner's total duplication of kenner's electronic one just added sound
I don't know which 'Kenner' one you're talking about.. there's a bunch between vintage & now. :lol

The medi is pretty damn small - I'd almost guarantee it's smaller than any Kenner / Hasbro 1/6 version.

There are a few things we know with 100% certainty:

1. Nothing has been released.

2. Nothing has been announced with regards to an R2 product.

3. No 1/6 scale prototype has ever been displayed or photographed. That 1/7 scale abomination from last year as a "placeholder" counts for exactly nothing.

All of these things leave everyone waiting. However, they also indicate that the wait will be long and likely futile. Products don't get prototyped, shown and released in less than 1-2 years in this hobby. And so far there's not even a whisper to indicate that the 1-2 year timeline is ever going to start.

If you want to spend some energy, write to Sideshow and tell them you want them to make a high-end 1/6 scale, articulated and tool-packing R2. Don't complain that they're missing the boat and "not making what people want."

Yeah, what he said. The bottom line is there is absolutely nothing out there to suggest we're going to see a diecast R2, at least not for a very, very long time.

so that means medicom lied about it's actual size my droid measured 6 1/8" tall if your saying medicom is smaller than that it is definatly a pass on anything they do. I have managed to avoid medicom and was tempted you have restored my restraint.

now i really will need SSC to make R2. Come on sideshow your my only hope.

I think it's to much to ask for SSC to make him metal. maybe the head would be cool but i wouldn't expect the frame.

Id be happy to get one R2 that was decent scale because right now my kenner model seems to be the best right now and that would mean SSC is a disappointment.

I would love to see them do a 2 piece set their own CP30 and R2 in one box, give temachi the italian version of f you, have a CP3O that talks and lights up and is taller than medicom and an R2 with loads of accessories that lights up and beeps.

Granted this set might cost close to 500 bucks but with payment schedule they allow could be doable for me. and we can stop playing who did it better. My nerves are getting wired worrying if R2 will be left to just medicom and kenner it's not fair. I waited all this time.

Hey if they make a two pack of 3P0 and R2 in an accurate 1/6 scale with lights and accessories, it could be $600 and I'd still buy it I mean it'd honestly be the last time I'd probably have to buy those two in 1/6th scale ever again.

All we can do now is hope that they get the project back on track. I'd welcome a SS version, but as I said, to me, that would leave my 3PO incomplete. Not sure I'd drop cash on a SS 3PO now owning this Tomashii version....?

Medicom's entire back catalogue of 1/6 SW scale figures is under scaled - except for a small handful via some recent additions. It's been their M.O till recently, their 'niche'.

Yep - that's it. :lol

well it may be there MO but they shouldn't label their figures 6" if it's under that that is false advertisement. they can be sued do you have both figs to show difference in height and body frame

Why are you guys arguing about 6"? (that's what she said, yeah, yeah..)

Even Hasbro's R2 is taller than 6" - I'm sure Medi's is as well. 6" is not the correct size for a 1/6 scale R2. Wookiepedia would have you believe R2 is 96cm tall in the movies, but that's not correct. He has to be around 108cm which is corroborated by https://www.r2-d2.de/index5.htm for starters. That's 42.5" (maybe as little as 42.25" in the movies).

7.08 inches at 1/6 scale or just over 7". The Hasbro Electronic version is about 6.25" tall. And looks very undersized. 3/4 of an inch, and the proportional increase in girth makes a huge difference on this guy. ;)

well this is the size that sideshow has on there website. 6.10" H (154.94mm)*
i just measured mine it's actually 6.5" so if SSC make it just a half inch bigger i can rest leia's hand in just the right spot. i tried to do the pose where she gives him the disc and it doesn't look right.
