Great photos guys. This figure looks amazing. Is $350-400 about what you should expect to pay these days? I'd love to pick one up but that's pretty high.

I'm aiming for $250-$275 tops. Don't know if I'll have any luck, but that's what I'm trying for.

It's doable with patience. I ended up having to buy for 275 plus 40 shipping as it was already overdue that I had this here.

Uncle Pixel, Uncle Pixel...tell us again about the times you nearly got tamashii 3PO for $200... pleeeeeeease?

That was a long time ago kids... way back when I said I'd never pay more than 250 for it. Things were different back then, in the summer of '14...

The latest time was within the past 3 months. And I'm 100% confident more people will get him for low 200's going forward. I just couldn't wait around for that as R2 was going to be here this week and I'm trying to kill 2 figures with one adapter.

I'd buy him for low $200's...haven't seen that price yet. All $300 and up with shipping.

You have to keep your eyes peeled on eBay, AND, most importantly, you have to search with multiple strings. Here's how I look:

Bandai c-3po (there will be a lot of eggs and 1/12th stuff to search through
Tamashii c-3po
12"PM c-3po
1/6 c-3po (this one can be really long for obvious reasons)

You never know when a seller will label their auction poorly - but finding one of these can (and does) help the watchful buyer because the auction invariably gets much less attention from anyone else. It's like striking gold when you find this kind of listing.

My 3PO has now cleared customs and if with the post office one town over - no delivery date mentioned, but from experience I expect it should be tomorrow. Fingers crossed there are no customs charges. ;) Kind of excited about this guy for a few reasons. Finally testing out the latest battery adapter for starters, but also because he's a clean-slate kind of figure that I want to customize and weather. There are opportunities with him not offered on many other things in my collection - not the least of which is that there is no factory paint at all to clash or remove.

Got this guy delivered today.

The weight/feel in-hand is very impressive, and I believe the primary factor that invariably clouds the judgement of collectors when it comes to this guy. The sculpt is decent. The pistons are "meh," poorly designed. They're plastic, not cast, just like the undersides of the feet and hands. It wouldn't have been difficult to make them a lot nicer in both appearance and performance.

I'm most disappointed however by the lack of articulation in the legs, I consider it so minor that I almost wish they had just made them solid pieces with articulated feet - as it stands, this "figure" is almost a statue. I wouldn't call the thighs articulated at all - they can just barely a "wiggle." The shins bend/ratchet back a bit, but I'm not sure why, because without thigh movement you can't place them in any kid of realistic position, nor will it be easy to stand him if each knee is bent differently.

Aside from the wow-actor of the metal's weight/feel, I believe most people will be just as pleased (or more so) with Sideshow's upcoming C-3PO (which I won't be getting - one 3PO is enough ;) )

The design of the interior of the head is going to make this a right pain in the butt for a battery adapter - I have to make a couple of adjustments to the design I already had. R2 and Ben's table on the other hand are going to be a little simpler than I'd thought.

still curious to see what you come up with for R2

What I'm doing right now is trying to figure out how to override the touch switch, so that when power is removed and re-applied, with an external switch or remote, the lights come on. Right now the controller always defaults to OFF when power is applied.

The articulation (lack of) never bothered me much. Like it's been discussed in this thread, the articulation is akin to the restrictions of the actual costume.

The only thing I would have wanted for this Threepio are articulated fingers like the upcoming Sideshow version. That is pretty sweet.

Looking forward to seeing your hard-wired droids!
