I wouldn't worry too much about that. He's either going to rust, or he won't. Zamac isn't exactly a quality material. Exposure to AIR will make it oxidize. handle him all you like. if skin oils can get through the pain/vacmetal/whatever it is, so can air.

Make sure 3PO doesn't take any long, romantic or otherwise, walks on the beach. That salt air is a killer.

If you're worried about it, spray him down with silicone spray. Totally safe, very protective against stuff like salty air. Oxidation needs more than air. You're looking at two different metals touching, or some other element that combined will cause a corrosive result, like water (moisture, vapor, liquid, etc.) Pack your (sealed) display case full of desiccant and change it out regularly. ;)

Haha you'd think some of you guys were aiming to get this figure into the british museum at some point :lol

R2 is going to kick *** I think. Since Threepio is ANH I assume R2 will be too? I wonder what little gadgets he'll come with. What do you guys think?

I'm sure we'll see R2 at SDCC. I just hope they fixed the dome and scale!

I think they will. I can't imagine them going through the trouble of making an incredibly accurate, scaled, detailed ,die-cast Threepio and dropping the ball on Artoo. Man, that would really suck.

I'm sure they'll fix the dome, but I have a bad feeling that the scale is going to be what we've been seeing all along. With scale, it's like they have to start again from scratch, unless they did it on the computer and can just scale him up another 10-20%.

How they made the original isn't that relevant if they've already made molds, the most expensive part of the production process.

If the one shown last year was from new molds for this collection, then chance are that's what we're going to get down the line. But wasn't there speculation that the R2 from last year was simply a stand-in from Medi or someone else?
