I wonder if Hot Toys will have the balls to pack the Bat up and send it across the Pacific for next year's San Diego Comic Con? That really would be putting salt in the wound, wouldn't it?

Hey, Hot Toys. Here's a suggestion--**** or get off the toilet!

And then snatch it and run for your life :panic:

I wonder if HT will be cruel enough to put this single prototype for an auction after the tour

OHHHHHH and I bet someone from this forum will win it too and I can think of a few from here ;)

I agree with Hydeous. I think that they'll definitely make this one. Even if they haven't got it figured out yet, I don't think they'll give up on this one as easily as, say, Green Lantern. Even if it takes a while, they hyped this up as their biggest project ever, and they know that if they can successfully get this thing to collectors, it could put them in a league above their competitors. I think that, come hell or high water, HT will continue to search for a viable way to get this in our hands.

If overall they can make more money selling 1/12 and getting the reps for it with less risk .....
I think thats why the 1/6 went on the chopping board
Just not much risk not doing it and then being outgunned by any of the direct competition as I doubt EB will try their hands on it

That is all just hearsay, though. I think that they'll continue to try to find other options for this thing. I still hope that we'll get the floor model that they've shown off, those rotors, and the lights. Ths thing is a grail if I ever saw one.

I would only buy a 1/6 and pass on the 1/12. I like my stuff the same size.

I usually do too and that was the one last rule I had to break for the EB/HT 1/4 and now the 1/12 Bat :(
It's open season now.. anything goes... no more restricting rules of collecting

Hot Toys are very naughty to reveal this in 1/6!
How can I miss out on this if they do make it.

And still no PO for this? Wouldn't surprise me if this gets cancelled.

Some things companies should do just because they can afford to.

Bugatti Veyron actually sells at a loss but they wanted to make something special for the history books.

Hot Toys don't have to officially enter this sort of market or price point ongoing but they should make The Bat just for the hell of it.

Create a grail piece that will most likely never be topped.

Im hoping Hot Toys will release this! With the camo Tumbler coming in September 2013, we will need something to display shooting at it
On a logistical side, I feel that I have figured out the release on every angle. Let me know what you think.

Hot Toys "Bat" 1/6th scale vehicle
MSRP-$1,100

Sideshow Collectibles:
$100 deposit
$83.25 per month FlexPay for 12 months
Release Date: 9-?-2013

With a production number of 800
giving Hot Toys an estimated $879,200 for income off the product, with a $275,00 production/manufacture, and distribution cost. Which would put them at a $600,000 gain, after Sideshow's distribution cut which is an unknown estimate!

Now, us as a consumer win, as does HT and SS!
Yes $83.25 a month is a stab, because most of us will also have the rest of the line on PO, but with a year to save up, and re-coup from the 1/6 scale figure overload from TDKR, we will have also created space for the Bat!
We also win, by showing Hot Toys, that their is a higher demand for larger scale vehicles, which could spawn off with large scale environment's, and etc.. Possible even the Duck from Batman Returns, and The Bat Wing from Batman 1989, and so forth from other films and franchises.Obviously Hot Toys wins, from the money they will make, and the future business that we will have created for their design team!

With the $100 deposit, this will show Hot Toys and SS how many consumers are on board, and with a few months of patients, more will likely hop on board. There fore giving them an estimated number on the production amount. Also, with the deposit, would lock in buyers, cause who would want to lose $100???

:exactly:

That's the way I'm looking at it.

However, HT teasing this thing as a "1/6th scale collectible" *IF* they've no intention of releasing it in 1/6 is very poor form indeed!

How many of the '89 Batmobile were released for that T brand (cant recall) @2K a piece? I just don't see 800pcs order even at $1100. You forget we are a loud crowd but in reality there are only a dz of us here LOL

Even if this was announced today, 2013 would not be a realistic release date. 2-3-4+ years more likely. How long has the 89 Batmobile been? They announced it a long time ago, then finally showed some pix last year, and it still isnt supposed to ship until May 2013. So thats over 2+ years in the making. The Bat we wont see it for 2-3-4 years at the very earliest.

Ive been back n forth on this whether they will make it or not. Im just going to hope they make it. Honestly if they make it now, or 30 years from now, Id buy it no matter. Im in no rush. Ill still want it no matter if or when its made. :)

Price, it will be well over $1100. I personally can't see this being less than $2000+, and if it is, ill just be pleasantly surprised :)
You really see it at over $2,000? Its basically 2 moded Tumblers with a helicopter propeller!!! $1,100 is a shot in the dark, but at $2,000 i see them losing their ***. $1,500 would still be steep, and I do understand the sheer size of this thing!

One problem is shipping. the shear size of this thing is going to be incredibly expensive to ship from HK to all over the world. Theres a huge list of factors other than the design that go into the cost.

The Toynami 89 Batwing retailed at $1500. The Bat is much much much larger. It was limited edition to 500 and I believe they all sold out.

And yes, but i believe the opposite, this site is only a tiny fraction of people who collect. Batman collectibles is one of if not the most collected of all Super heroes. There are far more people in the world that would want this than what we see on this site.

Shipping was the one thing I couldn't grasp. I remember seeing a pic, not sure if it was faked, of the Bat in a crate being lifted with a fork-lift! If that is indeed the box, then we could be looking at an easy 125-175 shipping cost. Weight I could see near the 75 pound margin.
Which is why I feel that HT / SS should keep the price at a reasonable $1,110-1,300 region, because after taxes, through state, and port, customs and delivery ( by the size, it more than likely will be pick up or special delivery) we are at after purchase an additional $200 easy, for some, could be more.

One of these days(Hopefully in less than a month), I will have a 1/6 scale Bat hull mocked up. Then the sheer size of this beast in normal everyday settings will be grasped by all.
Based on what i know of injection plastic manufacture, I reckon that a company as proficient as Hot Toys would be able to make this item for $1000. But I believe that's "cost to resellers". I have no idea what markup Sideshow add. Possibly as much as 50% of what it cost them but maybe less.
As for shipping, if it was shipped in pieces, there's no way to make 100% sure that those who recieve it will be able to assemble the craft and there will always be 10% of the "goons with cash and no brains" who will break a part trying to attach it(Then claim it arrived that way).
I honestly think in one piece is the only way for this to be shipped. And that will mean a large styrofoam padded box as big as the hood of your car...
I have been fretting in the last few days over where in the hell i am going to get boxes big enough to fit The Bat...
It's possible i will have to get them made or at the very least order from a bespoke box manufacturer that makes custom orders.
:lol

LoL, funny how many people got faked out by that "crate" photo. It was a fake photo, it was just a joke :lol. $125-175 shipping?UPS pricing for something that big would be very expensive. Tumbler can shipped for $40-50-60 within the USA. Overseas can be like more than double. But The Bat would be massive. easily double the size of a Tumbler. The box alone, man, it will be like the size of a fridge.

But there are other factors come to play. Distribution. Returns. Replacement parts.

IDK. Theres so much that goes into it, just cant really say what this could cost. The guys at Toy Heaven made an observation after seeing it in person and said this could cost "like buying a small car". And if you look at their photos of it, I would have to agree.

Also there is atleast one company ive seen that makes highly detailed 1:6 size sports cars and they can run $2000-6000+ depending on the model. Some of the Star Wars replica ships are several thousand dollars.
I guess Im just in the optimistic category. :lol I want to own this, I have cleared space and am slowly riding myself of my star wars collection to make room for this. I know im looking at over a grand, I also know my fiancee wont be ok with anything over $1,500 after shipping. Im hoping HT and SS will be able to come to some form of terms with this piece and let us know how, and when we can look forward to its release and price point.

No way this will ship as one piece. It would have to be kit form, not sure why anyone thinks that would be a change for Hot Toys, they do it all the time. The Iron Man Gantry for example.

The design of this craft is modular. Central hull, 2 side engines etc. it would not make any sense for this to ship as one piece, it would be way too fragile. Even the tumbler has its delicate fins separate for shipping.

It will ship in kit form or not at all.

I really would want one.

Wondering about shipping though..

Hey Username.. When will you be able to estimate the costing for the beast..?
