Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Maybe in the future, we'll be able to see new movies as they premiere via a streaming service. While we record our reactions. The hilarity would be worth the cost. Because the best way to watch bad movies is together with your buddies. ;)

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Found a webpage I referred to previously about the crapness of T3 - Downfall Of Terminator: All That is Wrong with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

It's a long read, and some of it is a bit hard to get through but overall, it hits all nails upon head.
Crikey, I don't know that he needed to critique it scene-by-scene, but I hate T3 enough that I read through it all. :lol

One of the things he highlights at the beginning is something I noticed w/TG:

As John Connor rallies his troops, he is standing next to a tattered American flag. This element provides unnecessary nationalism, while also trivializing the plight of humanity everywhere else on the globe. In Cameron's movies, if you notice there are no American flags or insignia, and the novelization mentions all men fighting as one nation.
In the Entertainment Weekly pic of John Conner, he's wearing fatigues w/an American flag emblem on the shoulder. Seems like something more appropriate for Independence Day than Terminator. They should hark back a little more to fact that it's a race against extinction, as opposed to nationalism. Anyway, just something that stuck out to me but really the least of this movie's problems, by the looks of it. Shame that Terminator is seemingly unsalvageable at this point.

T3 came out in 2003. Not to get political, but we here in the States can remember the national mood. Maybe it was a sign of the times.

I don't think the EW costume will appear in the movie, but I could be wrong.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

The important thing for me is if they still seem like the same world. I feel that they do. Larger scale in the second film but not stupidly so. The characters are consistent (or a believable progression of), the kind of dialogue is consistent, same music composer and various things that keep those two films tied together.

:exactly: You could watch both movies together as a character study of Sarah Connor.

Hot Toys Ahnuld two packs

- Jack Slater (reg)/Jack Slater Hamlet (black and white version)

I couldn't resist watching Last Action Hero again after this discussion about Slater figures. The fake Hamlet trailer was WAY cooler than the real TG one. :lol

I had forgotten that Robert Patrick briefly appeared as the T-1000 in that movie too.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Terminator 3 was ok, it was not so crappy, and the evil robot was cool
Terminator 4... I'm sorry but visually the movie was amazing, great action, just a cool film.

Terminator 5 trailer looks like a fan made trailer, like the CGI is not done yet :/
it looks bad.
but I do love the actors in it so maybe it will be cool

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

So far, T5 looks like a 13 year old kid blew his wad with some decent editing software, & George Lucased the last four films & baked a pew cake with it all as an experiment. :lol

It does look amateur. One of the fan trailers that was made back when this was first announced looked better than the official trailer.

I love Last Action Hero. Great action, fantastic Michael Kamen score, wicked movie nods. Awesomeness!

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I only bought LAH recently, & before that had never seen it. :monkey1

I do like it too; much more so than I thought I would, because before seeing it I just thought it was a cash grab type film, but it really isn't.

I love how in Jack Slater's world, Stallone is the Terminator :lol
