Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

The sad thing, is that Arnold's also got his hands around the sledge hammer handle that's driving the last big spike into the heart of this beloved story.

It shows that as Difabio said, his integrity compass is more than a little broken now - it's ****ed. :lol

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I just watched that SB trailer....

Are there any tall buildings on the Paramount lot? I see a few executives throwing themselves out windows in July....

This looks AWFUL.

Arnold has to stop. Now.

My poor Conan sequel. :monkey2

Count your blessings. Arnold doesn't care, he would have made it stupid. "Thulsa Doom, I've been waiting for you."

It didn't have to be this way though. I'm not gonna lie, he did look kind of badass stepping out of that police car in slow motion. Oh well.

Can't wait for the night this opens, and I finally get to watch T1 on Blu Ray again.

This is one I'm happy to read the spoilers for, as I have no plans to see it anytime soon. Possible I'll never see it.

Huh? Can't you watch T1 whenever you want? Don't gotta wait for the night it opens to finally see T1 ya goof.

I think he means that when the new one opens that the T1 blu-ray will drop to 50 cents and he'll finally be able to buy it or something .

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Oh yeah, I forgot he doesn't buy movies or something. I thought that was someone else on here.

You can tell he wasn't exactly the brains behind T1 and T2. And Cameron probably had a big hand in his acting performance too. Once Cameron was out of the picture everyone probably deferred to Arnie and essentially became yes-men to him. Can't really blame them, I don't think I'd have the bravery to question the man either. But he has forgotten how to play this character and doesn't seem to have a sense of what is just going too far.

I don't think it's that, it's probably that he needs the money for his divorce settlement.

If it was up to Arnie he'd likely have gone back to playing the villain, Cameron originally wanted him for Kyle Reese but he wanted to play the Terminator - and he actually had to be persuaded that making the T-800 the hero for T2 was a good idea, he originally wanted to be the bad guy again. T3 was probably done as a mix of cash grab and publicity for his upcoming political campaign, hence why it's so toothless compared to the originals.

Politics ruined him, in my opinion. It was a step too far, and in the wrong direction. As an immigrant he was never going to get a shot at being president, so he could never reach the top of the tree like he did in bodybuilding and movies. Should have just kept making films and quietly retired when he got too old for it, instead of now trying to play catch-up in his dotage for time lost being governor.

I've read the exact opposite, that he far preferred playing heroes in his post-T1 career and that he has a preference for T2 as a movie, presumably identifying more with that version of the T-800.

I've seen some interviews with him, Cameron and others where he talks about wanting the role of the Terminator over Kyle, reluctance to play the good guy in T2, etc - and I've also read things about him preferring to play the hero too. I suspect he says whatever will play best with what he wants his public image to be at the time, sadly enough.

I hate to say it, but I think the Arnold I worshipped as a kid died a long time ago.

I've gotten the exact opposite impression from some interviews, that Cameron had to persuade him to be the Terminator in T1. It's all very strange.

I don't recall off-hand what interviews specifically said about his role in T2 but there was a sit down interview with both Cameron and Arnold basically interviewing each other on one of the T2 VHS tapes back in the 90's where Cameron basically says that he had coffee with Arnold to talk about him playing Reese and that the whole time he was studying Arnold's face and profile and everything thinking "this guy would make the most menacing killer robot" and Arnold was kind of going through the motions discussing Reese and HE was thinking "I wish I could be da bad guy." The meeting ended and they left but eventually Cameron called Arnold back and asked if he wanted to be the villain. To his delight Arnold happily obliged.

Did anyone see the "Terminator" cameo on that Jimmy Fallon show? I hated the crappy music they used, thanks to that crappy tonight show band...

Looks like he's been hitting the gym hard, wasp waist and massive chest when he turned in profile. That music was truly terrible, how hard can it be to play the Terminator theme on an electric guitar?
