Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Would be hilarious if this movie actually makes big bucks.

I just don't see how that'd be possible. No one in the film is a box office draw (not even Arnold,) this is the fifth one in the series and neither the trailer nor TV spot has gotten positive buzz. Even if it gets a 90% rottentomatoes score I just don't see millions upon millions of people seeing it multiple times like your average cbm these days.

What's really hilarious is that they already have sequels lined up for 2017 and 2018.

Of course, Hollywood wouldn't pass up the chance to wring every last cent out of this franchise before Cameron gets the rights back in 2019, would they? :lol

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I'll still get the figures.

If there's some cool battledamage designs I'd be tempted by a T-800 and T-1000 - much like I would buy a BD T-850 from T3.

But if HT hopes to sell anything for this film they'd wanna show them and get production underway before the movie is out. They will really need ''newly released movie'' hype on this one otherwise it'll just become another T3 ''missing link'' as far as action figures are concerned (nothing for T3 from HT or NECA because hindsight has shown the movie to be very unpopular)

From what I remember most of the McFarlane T3 stuff was pretty spot-on anyway, at least the figures that mattered. Honestly if Hot Toys made figures of Genisys characters before giving us the rest of the T1 cast and maybe some new T2 stuff and a Diecast classic T-800 endoskeleton I think I'd start sending Howard art cards with abstract illustrations and vaguely threatening messages like 'the dawn is your enemy' at a rate of one per week until he caved in.

Re: my previous post

Now ''if'' HT hopes to sell something from T:Genisys is very much up in the air. They may not give 2 ****s either way and simply bought the license to stop anyone else making anything. They sure do love having a total monopoly.

Yeah they were decent figures, although the primary T-850 figure is bizarrely asymmetrical. It just has never looked natural to me.

The likeness on the Loken TX I would say is very good even to this day. And the coffin-holding T-850 is really cool, probably the best one.

HT will happily draw the T1 and T2 lines out as long as they possibly can. And with each new figure creating an inconsistency with what went (years) before they will create a desire in people for more remakes.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I am very curious to see what a 2015 HT Biehn Reese would look like. They are that random that it could pop up tomorrow.

You said it. :lecture

Pandering to the 'old timers' of the hobby seems less & less a priority to them these days as far as "where's our '??' figure you promised us *********!!", & more about capitalizing on bringing more noobs into the fold.

Makes sense at their end I guess. :lol

Do they even have the rights to his likeness? I'd be on the moon if they put out new Colonial Marines too, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe after nabbing Sigourney Weaver's rights, they'll want to take some time off before going after another actor.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Don't click the spoiler if you don't want this film potentially completely ruined ahead of seeing it. I haven't been able to find a download of the script to read myself yet, but from what others have posted:

Matt Smith is supposedly playing a new type of Terminator called the T-5000 that's infiltrated the human resistance in 2029. It's some kind of nanotechnological entity that infects a host body and transforms it into a Terminator. After John Connor sends Kyle Reese back in time and the timeline changes, it infects Connor (who becomes a new host body, or a copy, not totally clear on this) who then transports himself to the past where he helps Miles Dyson and his son perfect the Skynet technology. The big reveal takes place when John confronts Sarah and the T-800 in a hospital in 2017, supposedly. John Connor is the T-5000.

I actually hope all of that is true. All of it. If you're going to kill off this franchise, you may as well piss all over the corpse while you're at it. In for a penny, in for a pound, right?

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

"What are you going to smear all over your new movie?"

"Mimetic polyfeces."

"What the hell does that mean?"

"Liquid poop."

:lol

''Get real. So this movie could disguise itself as Mr Hanky the Christmas poo?''

No. Only a turd of equal size.
