That was petty funny. When it comes to time travel, there will always be loopholes and paradoxes, but this franchise does undeniably have more than its fair share..

There isn't a single time travel story that doesn't have paradoxes is there? I think it's inherent to changing the past for some reason that happens in the future.

But does it have to be such a ****** story? :lol

Looper straight up went "don't think about that, time travel is ********" :lol

I know, but that's just a small necessary evil for plot's sake and not blatant time paradox.

Marty leaves the past, and he and his kids still exist in the future...

The one I think of is in 2 where Biff steals the time machine to go to 1955 and when he comes back to drop off the time machine off nothing has changed around Doc and Marty. The future should have changed around them and they shouldn't have aware of any change. Marty SHOULD have thought his dad was dead and Biff was his step dad, but it all came as a shock when they got back to 1985.

That really is a weird anomaly I've noticed too. When he goes back to the future, the world should be different as well as Biff should be in a completely different physical state. Should there be another Biff, too? Considering the Biff in 1955 with the Almanac never goes back in time, so old Biff should be "separated" from time completely.

The only way this works, is that there is a multi branching point from 1955 that created a few parallel universes.

That's how I think time travel should work, by returning to a past time in your own timeline and changing something, that timeline doesn't cease to exist, rather, you're not in that timeline anymore, you're now in a different course diverting from the "original" timeline after events have been altered, hence, you don't know the future anymore. I think that's how one version of the multiverse works.

Wow, after re-reading that, you do need a lab coat and a retarded look to explain that ******** :lol

People have mentioned that Back to the Future employs a ''ripple effect'' idea of time travel where changes to the past gradually alter the previous 'future', the effects aren't instantaneous....or something. So old Biff managed to stay ''ahead'' of the ripple when he returned the Delorean back to where he stole it. All nonsense of course.

My question is - in Biff's alternate 1985 shouldn't there be another Marty in that timeline? Obviously Lorraine still knows Marty is her son and so does Tycoon Biff, they act like he's always been around and yet our Marty just got back there from 2015, having himself never experienced that new timeline. Soooo...is there another Marty there that they assume is one and the same with our Marty and he just doesn't happen to show up? Or.....

Isn't the other Marty at boarding school? Doesn't Biff call him her "no-good kid"?

But when Marty worries about Jennifer being left on the porch, Doc explains that once they fix the past then 1985 will instantly transform around Jennifer and she'll have no memory of the Tycoon Biff timeline.

Maybe. Maybe there was a line of dialogue I'm forgetting denoting where Marty was supposed to be...don't think so though.

Biff Tannen: You're supposed to be in Switzerland, you little son of a *****!
Marty McFly: My father?
Biff Tannen: Did you get kicked out of another boarding school? Damn it, Lorraine, do you know how much perfectly good dough I blow on this no-good kid of yours, huh? On all three of them!
Lorraine Baines: What the hell do you care? We can afford it! The least we can do with all that money is provide a better life for our children!

Also when almanac stealing biff returns to 2015 he falls down in pain. Which Gale and Zemekis claim is him disappearing from existence since he changed the past.

Ah, OK that answers that. They did think of it then.
