I can only see T5 getting better. They are already ahead. The already have the molds, parts for T-600, T-700, T-800, props, costumes, sets, plus they know what works well and what didn't. I can't imagine one Sky Net facility looking drastically different from another. So much is done already to continue and improve the story. :)

I'm sorry but are some of you still looking to be SHOCKED by a cameo in the movie? Seriously if you've been following the movie in any way you know what it is by now.

That should be a considerable reduction in their expenses.

Finally saw the film last night. I wouldn't say "awesome" but at least it didn't suck. Definitely some good stuff in there, but I think they could have done with a little more character development and a little less action. There wasn't enough time to really get to know the characters as well as I would have liked. This seems to be a common problem with modern action films -- you need some down time to make the action sequences have the most impact. If you go back and look at something like T1 or T2, or Alien and Aliens, there's a fair amount of time spent building up the characters and the film world, and I think that's part of what makes them lastingly popular.

Generally I think there is an over reliance by the studios on the watcher to go buy the movie mag/book or merchandise to learn about the characters these days. I almost think it's deliberate so they can sell that stuff

you mean they purposely make a crappy movie just so to sell books? makes as much sense to me as hiring the guy who did charlie's angels to do a terminator movie.

Aside from Blair and Marcus who had plenty of screen time, who else did you need to get to know that you didn't already know from the previous 3 films and the SCC?

Well it's true, I suppose, that as a sequel they can spend a little less time on character development than on a totally new property, but I didn't feel like I knew anything about who these people really were, or what made them tick. Yeah, we've seen John Connor in several films, but I'd still like to know a bit more about who this particular version of him was, for example. I didn't even realize that Bryce Dallas Howard's character was Connor's wife until quite late in the movie, since there was so little meaningful interaction between them until then. And how did Reese and Star end up living together and fighting the machines?

I'm just saying that a little more exposition and character development would have helped round out the movie for me.

I'm surprised it didn't make more money at the box office. It is still behind "Night at the Museum 2"...... making only $65 million in the first weekend and up to $ 90 million so far....

In my opinion, not a successful box office although I loved the movie.....

True but Paul WS Anderson talked about the importance of getting to know the characters before the action when he was making AvP and we still didn't give a crap about any of them despite his efforts. Something is just missing from the films now. Maybe its just that they're not new anymore. Terminators and Aliens were still new in 1991 and 1986 or at least seemed new because they weren't massively over-exposed across multiple media.

If you watched T3, then you'd already know that Katherine was John's wife. It's not a far stretch to guess who John is by seeing in the previous films and show, how his mother brought him up. That's something that Bale captured perfectly. There really wasn't any guesswork needed for any of this. As far as Reese and Star, I think desperation due to a post apocalyptic situation and man hunting machines isn't a far stretch.

Night at the museum2 SUCKS SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!
It doesn;t suck, but the first one was better :monkey3
I love going to the movies, but while i was watching NATM2 i wanted to leave the theatre running, never happened to me before.

:tap Money that should've been spent on seeing Salvation again. :lol

While I enjoyed the movie quite a bit (I started this thread! ;) ) , I'll be the first to admit that it could really benefit from a "Director's Cut". There's so much footage cut that I hope gets integrated back into the movie for its Bluray/DVD release. *crosses fingers*

Since it's a different actress, how am I even supposed to know it's the same character? Besides, I've wiped most of T3 from my memory.

And yeah, I forgot that you're always right.

Did you miss the part where they called her by name, aka Katherine, when John arrived back at base? After that, when John hugged her and the way he hugged her, it really wasn't that difficult to guess who she was. I'd say it was just common sense, but hey, I guess common sense ain't that common. :huh
