I think if anything, once the dust settles, this thing may shoot up in price, if for no other reason than the difficulty/fear associated with shipping it to someone else.

I got a similar email, I find it very, very strange that they talked about making sure shields weren't loose or unattached, when the actual issue wasn't loose shields, it was shields being BROKEN from being ATTACHED.
I honestly thought they were going to make the shield removable when they went back to the factories...that would have been the smart thing to do. Sounds like they just did the exact same thing as before and inspected each one off of the boats.

The issue still lies in that if the shield is attached, and UPS decides to act like UPS, there will still be broken shields.
:exactly::goodpost: I am seriously leaning towards canceling and about to fall over to that side.
:lol

Yeah, so I've got that going for me.....which is nice.

Gunga galunga.
:lol:rotfl:lol

I love the diorama ... it is one of the best piece I have ever owned ... get it from local stores to make sure there is no damage !!!!

*Huge Sigh of Disappointment*

Ok, so today I got in my 3rd Thanos replacement.
I'm thinking Sideshow is over in China, moving and shaking, learning from their mistakes, improving their product. Since they went back into production and it's taken 4 months to get my new replacement I'm picturing in my mind these guys re-tooling the pieces, making the shield separate, getting this whole comical movie-like montage of people scribbling down measurements in an industrial setting with a cool soundtrack, in this montage the engineer looks at the camera with an "AH-HA!" face as if he just figured it all out! So yah my mind is dreaming all this up because of the time it's taking, I just know this is going to be the ALL NEW THANOS 2.0 and those with 1.0 were going to want this one because all the kinks have been worked out! How joyous!

What I get instead when I remove the styrofoam box from the inserts from the color box, is the exact same statue as before, only this time someone paid the chinese to gnaw out a big hole in the styrofoam with their teeth, exposing the shield in the hopes it doesn't break. Shield is still glued on, no lessons were really learned, no customer feedback was taken into consideration. Luckily my shield was not broken.

On further inspection I see that on the inside of the gnawed out hole is smeared paint, not paint rubbed off from the shield, I have no clue where this mystery paint came from.

I go to open the battery case to pull out the tab, and the bottom is still covered with that white anthrax/cocaine residue that was on version 1.0. I even had to wipe this anthrax off of parts of thanos himself. Well the battery tab is already gone, so either Sideshow inspected it, or they just sent the old bases back to china and gave them 4 months to glue a new one back on.

I got lucky and the light up feature works right, unlike my very first one.

All in all this experience with this piece has left a bad taste in my mouth, not with the company, don't get me wrong. I love Sideshow products, but they just crapped all over this one. It's just a shame that we spent nearly $400 for something that was not properly engineered or given a proper FMEA.

All in all I finally got the piece and will keep it, but I really hope they learned some lessons from this whole ordeal that translates to better product in the future.

That is one sweet gnawed out hole ya got there! You may have just talked me into canceling mine. I got my notice yesterday that it was about to be charged and shipped. I really don't like the amateur plan with the styrofoam. That is seriously whacked! I mean, what if you want to sell this piece in future at some point? Too dang bad too, because this is one awesome piece!

Sometimes it's just no pleasing some collectors.

Just no pleasing some customers?
This is my THIRD replacement. First one had flickering lights and a broken shield, second had bad paint and a broken shield, third one took FOUR MONTHS for another replacement.
Sideshow emails us saying the boxes are damaged from them inspecting them and offer us 10% back or we can cancel our orders, getting a new minty box was not an option. Between the bad box and the bad styro, this kills some of the resale. Add in 2 half hour trips to the ups store to send them back and I think I have every right to be frustrated, so your quip was not needed.

Damn, you're one picky collector, brother! I mean, it's not like you had to send it back 10 times, or anything. Sheesh. Kidding! :lol :wink1:
