Its was all about robotech, transformers and the amazing thundercats.

Im a massive macross than now but still think robotech is great easpeacially the new generation.

I like Hanna Barbara stuff...Wacky Races, Jetsons. Also like early Hulk cartoon (I think its mae in 60s) Ok i've watched girly stuff too...She Ra, Jem & holograms, Care Bears with my kid sis. Enjoyed other cartoons like Bravestarr, Saber Riders, Plastic Man. Sure there are a lot more...

I have said this before but I loved this Cartoon it had really great story and the whole thing comes to a conclusion. Most other cartoons never really have an ending.

Not as often seen as most stuff listed in this thread... The Mysterious Cities of Gold... great stuff!

Loved all of those when I was a kid. He-Man was #1 for me by a big margin. My grandmother and parents got me so many of the toys growing up its not even funny. Transformers was #2 for sure and I remember crying when they killed Prime. GI Joe was another i had a crap pile of toys from when I was a kid. Good gravy do I wish I had some of them back.

Same here man, except for the Joe toys. I loved the show, but somehow back then my parents never got me the toys for some reason.
I had all the He-Man toys, plenty of the Transformers, and then in the late 80's all the Ninja Turtle toys!
Ah, memories. :joy

Not considered an "80s cartoon", but VERY early 90s, one of my favorite shows (to this day)

I LOVE this show! I've been waiting forever for the seasons on DVD. I am still waiting. :monkey2

I loved all of the 80's cartoons! They don't make them like that anymore. However, I wouldn't recommend going back to watch them. They just don't have the same magic as an adult. I like to remember them the way they were when I was younger. Watching them makes me realize how bad some were.

Aye i agree with that, if im gonna watch toons now its the adult variety, ie South Park etc. I have fond memories of watching all the toons mentioned, and i had alot of toys back then so i was a happy kid.

However, I wouldn't recommend going back to watch them.

Transformers was my absolute favorite as a kid. Several friends have told me that re-watching the DVDs was such a huge mistake that I'll never do it.
I'll take my chances with He-Man and Thundercats but I'd rather enjoy my selective memory of Transformers. :D

Thundercats is one I actually had in mind. So lame when you watch it as an adult. He-Man is right there with it. You realize how childesh they really were.

I LOVE the 80's cartoons... Probably what helped make me such a dork. I really got into them, especially Joe, Thundercats, He Man, and Transformers... :rock

Those are my favorites too. My top 5 that I remember being glued to the tv for after school are:

1. Transformers
2. G.I. Joe
3. M.A.S.K.
4. Thundercats
5. He-Man

My dad worked at Sears at the time and he brought home all the toys that were returned for one reason or another so I had lots of stuff from all those lines.

That's funny, my mom worked at Sears so I used to get Star Wars figures in these weird brown boxes - I think she said she would get the catalogue orders that no one picked up when the regular figures were sold out.

I'm actually enjoying Thundercats a lot!:lol
But you're right. Part of it is that for most of us it was our first introduction to themes and storylines that had been done before and better a million times over.
Even as a kid I remember thinking that Jaga was a little too Obi Wan.

Transformers was my favorite cartoon EVER. I have all 4 seasons on DVD now. I used to love the Herculoids ( SP ) when I was even younger.

Same thing goes for shows like Threes Company, Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazard, Gilligans Island, etc, etc!

Seriously, that is a kickass intro/theme song!
