Your thoughts on that, A.?!

Well, assuming the spoilers are true - I suspect they are - it sounds like they're pulling an Alien 3 on Terminator 2 by just killing John Connor like that before the opening titles. I'm surprised Cameron is on board with it because he hated Alien 3.

They're basically just starting the whole thing over again and changing the names (or genders) of the key players. Skynet is now 'Legion', it's using the same time travelling strategy to wipe out humanity but its Terminator is now called Rev-9 or something. John Connor has been replaced by Dani Ramos (sp?). The Kyle Reese type character is now Grace I suppose. I assume there'll be a Miles Dyson replacement too.

It all just sounds so redundant and been there, done that. Might aswell have just carried on with the Terminator Genisys trilogy.

Or better yet make T-2029 (which I've just started calling it today). One future war movie to cap T1 and T2 and also lead into T1 and T2 in a loop. It coulda been perfect.

Of course, as always and it´s all what fans want.
I suppose the Rev-9 is just kind of it´s name, cause it´s not a T-800 and how many T´s can there be?!

Did you see my other post?! How can Arnold become sentient, if Skynet sends them out "read only".
God I hate inconsistencies.

Otherwise, you´re right and I´m not stoked for it. I´m kind of wondering how it will do, but I´m not looking forward to it.

It has been said by others in the thread that maybe it's ignoring the T2 Special Edition and only acknowledging the theatrical cut in which the T-800 was just able to learn by default.

Shouldn't there be just as much of a chance that a T-800 would reach the exact same conclusion as Skynet that humanity needs to be wiped out though? I mean, it's another computer brain. What circumstances would an idle T-800 that has completed its mission (and not been destroyed in the process) get itself into to instead begin empathizing with humans and turn against Skynet? Maybe that could even be interesting but I don't think this film is going to show us that happening.

No, it won´t, man. It´s gonna be the same one dimensional BS.
It would be interesting though, I´d watch that.

It's something I've wondered about - what would the 1984 T-800 have done after killing Sarah Connor? If Reese was still alive I guess he'd lose it and go on a suicide mission against the T-800. The Terminator would probably kill him too and what then?

Likewise what would the T-1000 have done if he succeeded in killing John Connor? If he managed to do so without destroying Uncle Bob, what would Uncle Bob do? Would Uncle Bob see any point in continuing to fight the T-1000?

Terminator 3 pretty much asks this question and the T-850 says - ''if you were to die, I would become useless. There would be no reason for me to exist'' - and yet he would still exist.

T2 doesn't have much to say about it - just one line I can think of - ''I have to stay functional until my mission is complete...then it doesn't matter''.

Back to the Future and several other more scientific theories (than the movie) posit they would cease to exist, as the man who sent them back would have never been able to do so. But then the whole thing is a weird time loop, so it's entirely possible they would still be around, and it's all theoretical anyway. Never thought about what their respective "guardians" would do if Sarah or John were killed. Interesting.

Didn't the TV show already answered this? Upon completing missions, the Terminator would go into low power standby mode while hiding itself in the stockpile shelter, waiting to be awakened by Skynet in the future. The low power mode also means it can be triggered awake if touched or moved.

Holy ****, right.
SCC established that.
Awesome, rook. Bang on the money.

Very happy to report that my problem with the chinese seller, on my Johm Connor has been settled.

Initially paid only 120€ for him, due to the first 10€ coupon I ever used, then it arrived, endo arm missing, filed a complaint and after some back and forth I was refunded 65€, while a new arm costs around 60.

So in the end I even got JC for 115€, only thing that´s left is for the arm to arrive.^^

Oh wow director Tim Miller has officially gone full retard:

"If you’re at all enlightened, [Mackenzie’s cyborg character Grace] will play like gangbusters. If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the **** out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine,” Miller said. “We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early **** that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a ****.”

So the franchise that brought us one of the most celebrated and badass female leads in film history...is introducing a female character that you'll love unless you're a misogynist troll. Wow, lol. Lifelong Terminator fans, who already love Sarah Connor, *must* love his new character or they're...closet misogynists. The level of idiocy that preemptive fan-shaming, their literal paying customers, has reached is beyond words at this point.

Congratulations Tim...

Excellent double-reference.

:lol :lol

I thought you might like it, lol.

Yeah every time Tim Miller opens his mouth I just want to punch him.

Lol, we thought Brie Larson was dumb for trying to take credit for being the first female lead in film history but Tim takes the idiocy to a whole new level. This is a freaking *Terminator* film. The series that gave us Sarah Connor and the T-X. But weak men suddenly can't handle...a third badass chick? :cuckoo:

They just know that they've got a crapstorm about to crash down on them and are bracing themselves to deflect all criticism. Same way Ghostbusters, The Last Jedi, and Captain Marvel did it. It's not the horrible movie's fault everyone hates it. They're all just sexist.

Pretty much every leak I've heard about this film tells me its going to be a freaking dumpster fire.

This was addressed in an episode of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" where a T-800 is sent back to stockpile a rare alloy for use in the future war. Basically the Terminator gets to a place where it won't be discovered and shuts itself down into a standby mode.

Tim Miller in yesterday's Variety:

"Look, I was with fans. This is a franchise, and it has to be great. When the s–t hit the fan, I went over there and said, “The most important thing to do, man, is say, ‘I f–ked up.’”

Now that's a class act.

EDIT: Sorry, correction - that was Miller talking about Sonic the Hedgehog's director.:monkey3:lol

Attacking and disparaging your fanbase - aggressively - does seem to be a thing these days.

Of course Miller would NEVER go to Asia (China, SK or Japan) and call fans misogynists and trolls. WAY too much Termo-money at stake there.:rotfl

The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

Oh Hollywood what are we going to do with you.

You give us so many great memories but then you give us the biggest “protectors” of women being the biggest abusers of all.
