You shut your whore mouth!

Wow, well, I'm hesitant to go that far. I've stapled myself to hating this movie pretty hard, particularly in the last few days since reviews have popped up.

The rest of the movie would have to be surprisingly damn good to push me into fully embracing the opening scene and it simply doesn't look very good at all for the reasons we've been talking about all along.

Lets say I did accept it though and decided 'yes this is canon' - I would have this question - why did the resistance only know about the 1984 T-800 and the T-1000 in 1995? And therefore why didn't Uncle Bob know there were other threats out there?

because it seems like Carl knows. He's the one sending Sarah these texts with co-ordinates to these other Terminators - which is weird in itself when you think about it - why wouldn't he go after them himself? Why is he putting her in harms way?

Ha ha yes I haven't preordered the Steelbook or cleared space on my shelf for DF figures or anything. ;)

But I might as well embrace the fact that that clip does give us at least a few days of fun speculation before the film itself utterly destroys any misplaced optimism, lol.

As for "why didn't the resistance know about other threats" well to me if you can accept Reese himself being wrong (who was literally there when the time displacement equipment was used) then I can accept 1995 Sarah being wrong (or whatever year she was supposedly narrating the intro to T2) as well. And Uncle Bob had "detailed files" on human behavior and the history of Skynet but his historical knowledge seemed to be restricted to the original untainted timeline. He had no knowledge of anyone replacing Dyson which technically would have had to have occurred for him to have still existed in the future in the first place.

Carl could have more info on Skynet's time-traveling tactics since he, unlike Uncle Bob, was actually sent by Skynet. If I remember correctly from the original T2 notes John and the Resistance awakened Uncle Bob and reprogrammed him before he could acquire any new knowledge from Skynet's database about such tactics. I assume Uncle Bob was just supposed to be a 2029 future war infiltrator and nothing else where Carl was on the "Time Travel Team" or whatever you want to call it. So Carl has the full plan.

I need to read that again and contemplate it some more. And how better to do that than after 6 or 7 pints. I'm off out.

Arnold is my favorite actor of all time.

I?m dreading the day that he dies I will be a drunk mess my wife already knows this and has her plan on how to handle me for those few weeks lol.

Funny enough he?s not in my favorite movie of all time and he doesn?t play my favorite character of all time although he comes close with both.

He will eventually be gone but certainly not forgotten.

What is your favorite film and who is your favorite character?

Funny, I'm the opposite of you. Stallone is my favorite actor, but my favorite film of all time is T2. That's life.

The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

My favorite standalone movie still remains Raiders with Die Hard a close 2nd.

My favorite character still remains Luke with Darth Vader a close 2nd.

My top 12 are:

RAIDERS
DIE HARD
ESB
ANH
GOOD BAD UGLY
ALIENS
T2
PREDATOR
T1
CONAN
ROBOCOP
ROAD WARRIOR

I know Rocky 1 and First Blood is floating somewhere between 13-25 lol

The reason I place Raiders and Die Hard over ESB and ANH is because Raiders and Die Hard don?t require another movie to achieve their full potential even though the cultural significance obviously goes to those 2 SW movies but i?m not ranking cultural significance.

My ranking of your list from favorite to least favorite.

T2
Predator
Raiders
Die Hard
Robocop (even though it traumatized me)
Road Warrior
GoodBadUgly
Aliens
SW
ESB
Conan

Raiders ranking 3rd!

Well, OK, I love you a little. 3rd best.

It's way up there considering I hate sand and sandy environments. I love the jungle/forest intro, maybe the greatest opening sequence ever? I can't think of a better one.

Touch of Evil, 2001: A Space Odyssey - The Dawn of Man, TDK, Godfather, Once Upon a Time in the West, Matrix and Patton also come to mind as contenders.

The violence done to Murphy?

Yes, for starters. :lol That scene is hard to watch. Vary hard. Clarence Boddicker is an underrated villain. Hans Gruber is nice guy compared to that guy.

Then there's the ED 209 malfunctioning. That still terrifies me, because it's a faceless machine with two giant machine guns for arms that talks, and once it malfunctions, there's no talking your way out of it. If it wasn't because of the humorous stairs scene, I would consider ED 209 the scariest villain ever.

Robocop getting shot in the parking lot by all the cops.

The guy melting.

Guy shot in the d I c k.

Murphy in the hospital with his eyes open.

The whole tone of the film and even the look of Detroit. I hate Detroit and I've never even been there because of the movie.

Hell, even the story. Murphy's body is desecrated to make a robot and they're cutting his limbs off.

I loved the Kenner toy line tho.

Well said RC is indeed super savage.

Big ass mech in a goddamn corporate conference room wtf lol

Yes Clarence would?ve won against Mclane.

Melting guy was Troma levels of insanity.

Detroit yikes not even EMS responds to calls lol

Weller should?ve won an oscar lol (i?m serious though)
