I thought McGuire was a terrific Silver Age Peter Parker. But no, he doesn't fit the more modern Spidey most are probably familiar with nowadays.

Exactly. He nailed the shy nerd aspect perfectly, being capable of portraying the science geek while being completely unable to approach women. Though, with how easily that's being run over a cheese grader ATM, I'm guessing people would have to crack open a book to understand that. :lol

Its just proof how two people look at the same thing and see different objects. I think the reason I loved Garfields casting is because in my eyes, he looks like Ditko drew him, whereas Tobey had the more rounded features that came along with Romita. Both are awesome Spideys, but I just never saw anything from the Ditko era in Tobeys build. :dunno

My main disappointment with Tobey was his Parker portrayal, he didn't just do the bumbling, he seemed creepy and like he was having petit seizures at times. I don't know if thats how he was directed or thats just him, but I could never embrace his Parker portrayal.

Yea, I always felt he handled playing an outcast better than Andrew. Sometimes when I watch Andrew's Peter Parker, I don't understand why he's not popular. He seems to fit right in with everyone else, pre Spiderman of course.

The things i disliked about tobey spidey are only like two things. His constant crying bugged me and somtimes he was way to serious and only would crack a joke once or twice. Thats pretty much it. I will always remember how great tobey was in the role growing up. He was great for that time.

So some guy over at superherohype saw a rough cut today and gave it a 9/10.

He called it The Dark Knight of the Spider-Man movies, not meaning as good as TDK but the best of the franchise.

Can't wait :impatient:

Thats what I read as well. Most of my fears of this movie left, once Webb said he would “embrace the spectacle”. I think even the worst superhero movie this year will be better than everything we got last year.

I'm feeling the same way minus DOFP.

I have high hopes for Cap/ASM2/GOTG at the very least matching or even surpassing IM3/Wolverine/Thor2.

That being said, Godzilla might be the best Superhero movie this year. :lol
