There are different versions and characterisations of the character not just one
Yep... I was never big into Spidey comics but when I did get them he was older, more confidant, and married... Not so nerdy and he was not all that different from his alter ego. Of course why would he be?? It's not like he had an almost split personality like Batman.... He was always Peter Parker.
PS - We all give SM2 credit but nobody ever complains about his "Powers on - Powers Off" aspect of the film... I always found that silly that he would completely loose his Spidey powers... Simply because he did not want to be spider-man anymore... He even needed his glasses again... I am surprised more don't complain about that. Did that happen in the comics or is it just a silly thing created for the movie.
PSS - I will be the first to admit that I get excited when he first gets his posers back
Agreed 100%.
The fact that the "Webb/Garfield/whatever the **** you want to call it" reboot series only lasted a whopping 2 years and Sony begged Raimi for help via email makes for good feelings.
I'm glad you're dead or dying reboot Spidey, I'm glad you're dead.
Still brings a tear to my eye.
In the earliest comics, Spidey would intermittently have a run-in with Johnny Storm or the X-Men (the other major teen heroes of the day), but they were never very chummy, even if it was just due to bad luck and misunderstanding. Spidey was an outcast even among the superhero community, and I thought that was a pretty cool aspect to his character. But, that changed in Marvel's fairly recent pursuit of the almighty dollar over everything else. And please dont pair him up with a with younger superheros
People can lose their mojo, especially when it's all psychological. I dug him losing his powers as his Peter Parker persona and Spider-Man persona collide. Doesn't he fall several stories as Spider-Man right after he's humiliated by Harry and MJ gets engaged? Makes sense to me. Guilt over his uncle, lying to his aunt, losing his best friend, losing his girl, ****** apartment, no $$$, failing school, he'd be a neurotic wreck.
As for Pete losing his powers, he does in the comics but not in the severity like the movie. I can understand taking a psychological blow and not wanting to be Spider-Man, but that doesn't **** up your genetics to the point you lose your eye sight.

He may not be pretty, but Elfman was a pretty cool mofo back when he was in Oingo Boingo. At least, as far as new wave-type guys go.

THIS
No big deal though... Just surprised with the amount of complaining people do about every little thing in the new Spidey film that everyone is fine with ignoring this.
