Give him to someone that has some working knowledge of the Spiderman mythos... moar JJJ please, not just in the "viral" marketing. :slap

There are different versions and characterisations of the character not just one

Yep... I was never big into Spidey comics but when I did get them he was older, more confidant, and married... Not so nerdy and he was not all that different from his alter ego. Of course why would he be?? It's not like he had an almost split personality like Batman.... He was always Peter Parker.

PS - We all give SM2 credit but nobody ever complains about his "Powers on - Powers Off" aspect of the film... I always found that silly that he would completely loose his Spidey powers... Simply because he did not want to be spider-man anymore... He even needed his glasses again... I am surprised more don't complain about that. Did that happen in the comics or is it just a silly thing created for the movie.

PSS - I will be the first to admit that I get excited when he first gets his posers back :)

I agree, thats one of the issues I feel most fans like to gloss over. It was obviously done on purpose to reinforce the whole “With great power comes great responsibility” theme of the movie, but its pretty much a plot hole the way it’s utilized.

Also the fact that Doc Ock was able to sustain a ton of punishment from Spiderman when he really should have been brain dead after once punch always came off as lazy writing to me.

The movie has a lot of heart, some incredible scenes (train fight, Harry smacking Peter while MJ is getting proposed too) and really nails his struggle balancing his life as Spiderman and Peter Parker but it’s nowhere near the best superhero movies ever in my opinion.

Yea doc ock took alot of damage in spderman 2. Falling from a train ahundred stories and taking those hits was a head scractcher.

People can lose their mojo, especially when it's all psychological. I dug him losing his powers as his Peter Parker persona and Spider-Man persona collide. Doesn't he fall several stories as Spider-Man right after he's humiliated by Harry and MJ gets engaged? Makes sense to me. Guilt over his uncle, lying to his aunt, losing his best friend, losing his girl, ****** apartment, no $$$, failing school, he'd be a neurotic wreck.

I too thought it was weird that Doc Ock could take Spider-Man's hits (you'd think Spidey could just give him the one hitter quitter), but it happened in the comics too. That's not enough for me to not consider it one of the best comic book films. It's in the top 10 in my opinion, maybe even 5 depending on my mood. If not that, it's certainly the best Spider-Man film (which I guess isn't saying much since nearly half of them suck).

Agreed 100%.

The fact that the "Webb/Garfield/whatever the **** you want to call it" reboot series only lasted a whopping 2 years and Sony begged Raimi for help via email makes for good feelings.

I'm glad you're dead or dying reboot Spidey, I'm glad you're dead.

Still brings a tear to my eye.

Did Burton do this? That's the vibe I got.

Of course. How else did he bag Bridget Fonda? Beauty and the Beast, indeed.

And please dont pair him up with a with younger superheros
In the earliest comics, Spidey would intermittently have a run-in with Johnny Storm or the X-Men (the other major teen heroes of the day), but they were never very chummy, even if it was just due to bad luck and misunderstanding. Spidey was an outcast even among the superhero community, and I thought that was a pretty cool aspect to his character. But, that changed in Marvel's fairly recent pursuit of the almighty dollar over everything else.

What is idiotic is that Sony bitched about having all that stuff. And when it bombs, it's the actors and directors fault....Doesn't make sense. It's ********. I think Garfield and Webb did a fantastic job, but they don't get final say for scripts and such. I say the same for Raimi. 3 would probably be amazing if it wasn't for Avad ***** about Venom and a third villain.

As for Pete losing his powers, he does in the comics but not in the severity like the movie. I can understand taking a psychological blow and not wanting to be Spider-Man, but that doesn't **** up your genetics to the point you lose your eye sight.

No big deal though... Just surprised with the amount of complaining people do about every little thing in the new Spidey film that everyone is fine with ignoring this.

Ah yes that is true. When he was considered to be recruited to the avengers they treated him like dirt but he almost kicked all there asses before he said **** it and left. In ultimate spiderman they pair him up with a team ttying to be like "teen titans" and it's absolutely horrible. Yes that show is geared towards selling toys then giving a great story like spectacular or 90s spiderman hell even the old cartoon did better.

I like the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, but that's definitely not the version of Spidey I want to see on the big screen. It's a pretty transparent way of appealing to kids, and it's fun, but it's not the real Spidey that I know.

Doesn't the campus doctor say that Peter's hypothetical "friend that think he's Spider-Man" is just experiencing stress and a life crisis and that it's all in his head?

It seemed to me that he wasn't so much losing his powers, but his mind was just shutting them off, like an athlete or a soldier or something. Look at how fast he snaps back when Doc Ock smashed into the cafe and snatches up MJ. The that great moment where he gets his suit back from the Bugle. It was psychological.
